OT: Thanksgiving Recipe Thread

Shopping for the big day needs to take place soon, boy the stores were crazy busy even today (the Friday before) so your recipes (or if you don't cook... your strategies for Black Friday) below.

I found this recipe in the "slow cooker" cook book the other day and will try it out soon.  [Seems "crock pot" is a registered trademark thingy.]

Slow cooked Sweet Potatoes

4 sweet potatoes (8-10 oz each)

1 tbsp oil (canola, olive, corn)

1 tbsp butter

1 tbsp honey

3 tbsp water

1tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1. Clean sweet potatoes and pierce with a fork on all sides.  Combine oil, butter, honey, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.

2.  Coat each potato with the mixture and place them in the "slow cooker."  Season with salt and pepper if desired

3. Cover and cook 4-6 hours (depends on the power of your cooker) they are done when tender / you are able to pierce them with a fork.

My Black Friday strategy is to stay as far away from any retail outlet as possible!
