This may end up being moot by the time most of you read this, but Cameron Maybin is on the trading block, and the team most likely to get him is the Padres. Last year we snatched up some players just so the Padres couldn't have them (Cody Ross anyone?) and ended up winning the World Series while they were sitting at home. Does anyone think that maybe it is time to go out and make another big move to get a 23 year old former top-5 prospect who just happens to play a +5.1 UZR CF? We are going young (finally!) and Maybin has the potential to be a top-flight CF. I would rather see him in a Giants uniform than a Padres uniform for sure.
This was last year's line for Maybin:
| YEAR | TEAM | G | AB | R | H | 2B | 3B | HR | RBI | BB | K | SB | CS | AVG | OBP | SLG |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2010 | Marlins | 51 | 182 | 31 | 41 | 4 | 1 | 5 | 19 | 14 | 56 | 6 | 1 | .225 | .290 |
.341 |
Ya, pretty bad. So this is a big buy-low player, but I think it would be a brilliant move to get our CF of the future and let him sit for a bit and earn his playing time. As long as we don't give up a top-10 prospect, this could be a great steal for us.
