Give Barry a Ring!

Bengie Molina does not deserve a ring. Barry Bonds is the greatest of all time, and i feel bad how the media treated him like shit without knowing a fucking thing. He deserves better give the man a ring, if it weren't for Dusty Baker, he would have one. Listening to the man on CSN, he sounds a little drunk but he has heart! I feel so bad, I grew up watching him play, and to be honest I'm not sure i would have been such a big fan of baseball if it weren't for this man. Give the man a fucking ring. G.O.A.T

You obviously never saw Willie Mays

Sorry. But as great as Barry was he couldn’t touch Willie. As for the ring, no. This team was the anti-2002. That team, great as it was, had a rather "sterile’ feel about it. This team has the feel of a college football team. No stars. All team. So no ring for Barry. Or Willie. These guys earned it.

May 29, 2010: Steven Revetria takes over as Giants General Manager. The rest is history.

I gotta stand up for those guys in 2002
.
I don’t know why you would take this day of Giants greatness to marginalize guys like Barry, Woody, JT, Kent, Nen, Richie and so forth. The giants had some fantastic teams and that was one.

It is unclear to me . . .

. . . why “these guys earned it” and “give Bonds a ring” are viewed as mutually exclusive. It’s not as if giving Bonds a ring somehow prevents anyone else from getting one, or even in any way dilutes the value or significance of a ring. You might be amazed at the people in the organization who are going to be getting rings (recall that not all “rings” are the same kind of ring). It seems to me that Barry Bonds has contributed enough to this organization, and remained in close enough relations with it through 2010, that there is nothing in the least unseemly about his receiving a ring. (Ditto Willie, and a few others.)

Logic and Reason and Understanding...

and Largess have no place in the minds of some when twitchy partially-informed opinions and the media pop-culture smog dictate otherwise

Willie Mays happens to disagree with you.

But Barry doesn’t. The point being is that there is no definitive way to determine this and even if there were it would only matter in a game of Trivial Pursuit, seeing as that it can never have any impact on any real baseball game now or in the future or in the past.

It simply doesn’t matter in the real world and to use this opportunity to take a shot at Bonds is petty, and smacks of media brainwashing. The “anti-2002” team is a hallucination created by some bitter media hacks who will take every opportunity to fling their dung at Bonds, that they can. Just like the chimps at the zoo. And you’re simply echoing and repeating what they have written and what has been blurted on ESPN by the guys who have hated Bonds since he was in Pittsburgh.

I saw them both. And I saw more of Mays then Bonds. Mays was great. And he excelled against great players. And Mays played several years with four other hall of famers in the same lineup. Bonds played with good players and the one time he did play with a future HOF, he and Kent drove the Giants to WS with a pitching staff about half as good as this one. Bonds dominated that world series too.

He posted one of the most dominant World Series of all time in 2002 with slash lines of :

BAT .471 OBP .700 SLG 1.294 OPS 1.994

And I don’t think Mays ever dominated games, the way Bonds did. Bonds simply destroyed opponents game plans, and bullpen management. And that was even after he lost his wheels for good during the 2004 season

Kruk and Kuip disagree with you

I’ve heard them make the point multiple times refer to the current team as the antithesis of 2002. Each time they said it a respectful way to Bonds, but said this team is more special.

I’ll assume they’re closer to both teams than you and take their word for it…k thanks.

The thong is, it happened.

From what I know of Barry

He wouldn’t accept the ring.

But I agree with your sentiment. Barry deserves some love from ownership.

Back on the market.

And there are a few other guys on that list as well.

I imagine that the organization might have something commemorative to give all the old Giants players.

Really? Sorry, but this strikes me as incredibly stupid

Giving a ring to Barry would diminish what this 2010 team did.

Bonds accomplished a lot and was handsomely rewarded, but had nothing to do with this moment.

No Bonds, No Pacbell

No Pacbell. No World Series.

The end.

And Bonds was not rewarded. He was driven out by the media crazies and an 18th century style judicial witchunt with the full blessing of Bud Selig and one of the most vile cretins to ever darken the hallways of the US Senate

I suggest you do your homework because what you just wrote sounds incredibly stupider.

Look, I don't disagree with Bonds' treatment

…but this is about the 2010 Giants, not players who played in the past. Bonds is happy for the team and might join the team in some capacity in the near future (according to one of my sources). Let’s just leave it at that.

Thanks for telling me I need to do my homework. Until now, I really haven’t followed this team.

agree with Goofus

can’t believe we’re even talking about Bonds in conjunction with this team.
