Hotels near AT&T park?
Hi all, I'm coming into town for Friday's game and need recommendations for an affordable hotel near the ballpark or easily accessible by public transportation. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It's going to be hard to find a hotel room in the city this weekend.
USC is at Stanford
UCLA is at Cal
Giants Playoffs
Pediatric Convention (12,000 in attendance)
Your best bet might be to stay somewhere close to BART or CalTrain station and use the public transportation to your advantage. Perhaps the East Bay near OAK or down near SFO. The places in the City (especially in downtown) are usually pretty pricey.

Or stay in Marin and take the ferry. Is definitely worth the experience. TEH FERRY IS TEH AWESOME.
I know ferry’s come from other places to, but I always took the one from Marin.

That I know of
…the closest hotels to the ball park are in the Union Square and Embarcadero areas, which are about a 20 minute walk from the park. Not sure if any of them are “affordable” though.
You might want to also check out hotels near SFO…they’ll probably be cheaper.
If you have an extra ticket, you might try trading it for room and board with one of the McCoven.
Proudly adopted Aubrey Huff. You can't beat that!
A few times we have stayed near SFO and then BARTed into SF. Hotel rates are cheaper than in the city, but the BART costs can be pretty expensive. $10 round trip? Which I guess is cheaper than parking.. Use Embarcadero station and transfer to MUNI N-Judah buy your return ticket for MUNI on your way to the park.
Personally I’d avoid CalTrain. The last time we took Cal Train to a game it was like a rolling drunk tank! And slow? OMG! The workers were grumpy and rude, probably cuz’ they were dealing with all the drunks!
Our favorite hotel in SF used to be a …. Ramada or a Marriott right on the edge of the financial district / China town. Unfortunately it was taken over by Hilton and the prices went through the roof. – They have a very neat roof by the way, with a swimming pool on top, you can swim laps in the shadow of the pyramid building!
We had an acquaintance recommend the http://www.oceanparkmotel.com/ but we’ve not been there ourselves.
FYI re parking costs
We usually drive and park on Brannan for $13 and walk about 1/4 to 1/3 a mile to the game. Last week this lot was $20 for DBacks games. The attendant said expect $60 to park in this same lot for playoffs.

Walnut Creek Marriot
near McCoveys, and you get a free shuttle to BART
That’s a good idea. Do they charge for parking?
We used to stay at the Marriot in San Ramon a lot, then they added a $10 parking surcharge.
I don't know.
I don’t think so. I would check up on it.
Idk, I’m a local. so I wouldn’t know.
if you're willing to go that far
There’s a Holiday Inn Express that does the same thing.
No parking charge IIRC- I stayed there for a wedding a couple years ago.

The closest one I know of
is the Courtyard by Marriott on 2nd St:

Looks like $230 something, but it’s very near Moscone so between the convention mentioned above and the playoffs, well, good luck. Fall is tourist high season in these parts.
The SFO places are probably the cheapest and closest. If you want to be REALLY cheap you could stay out there and drive out to the Outer Sunset and take the N all the way in. Free parking but a long ride back to the car; it’s pretty easy to get back to SFO however.

also
I suppose those with money to burn will know such things, but there’s a W next to Moscone and a couple of others around 4th and Mission, the Mosser and the Argent.

Back when I was still just an annual visitor to SF
I always stayed at the Courtyard on 2nd Street for ballgames. However, that’s summer prices and a regular-season game. I suspect it would be near impossible to find anything in the downtown/South of Market area that’s actually affordable.
You could try a motel out here in the boonies of the Outer Sunset or something cheap at the Wharf. There are 3 motels right by the beach out where I am that are all convenient to the N Muni light rail line that crosses the whole city and stops at the ballpark on weekdays.
Ryan Rohlinger lives in my basement. I let him out to play baseball.
By the beach sounds great! Do you know their names, or at leas the name of the neighborhood so I can search for them?
Oceanview Motel
Great Highway Inn
Beach Motel
I have never stayed there and at least one of them, Beach Motel, looks skanky. But OTOH if it’s just a night or two.
