Bochy is a moron
“We had the right guy up there,” Bochy said. “He’s been through it. He’s a good hitter. He’s a threat up there.”

He’s been through it? He’s been to the playoffs exactly once in his career.

Burriss and Velez weren’t going to do anything worthwhile anyways (not sure how either of them end up on the ML roster). Of course, they both probably would have just struck out weakly, instead of hitting into a lame DP, but I doubt either of them could have done anything to help win the game.

If the team doesn’t hit the long ball, it seems that they can’t win.

Velez or Burriss.

We’re complaining about Bochy choosing Guillen to hit instead of Velez or Burriss? Really?

I mean, really?

Do you want him to tell Schulman the truth, something like. “Guillen is slumping and isn’t really that good at hitting major league pitching to begin with, but Velez and Burriss barely belong on a 40-man roster and have no business ever playing in meaningful games.” I’m sure that would go over well in the clubhouse and front office.

I don't think we're doing that

Shulman mentioned it.

I would have sent up Sanchez.

I would have sent up Guillen. I can understand the argument for Sanchez, but remember that he’s kind of garbage against righties.

I would have preferred to see Rowand up there.

I thought that they had Rowand out there in the bottom of the 3rd to PH for Zito but left Zito in. And then they didn’t use him again, right?

Correct. He was never announced, just a decoy for Zito.

Sanchez is the right choice there. If you’re going to write a column criticizing Bochy for using Guillen, at least know why he was wrong. Stating that it was between using Guillen, Velez and Burriss makes him look right.

Wrong flaw in strategy

Why was there not a take sign given to Guillen on the second pitch and send the pinch runner down to second on a steal attempt to remove the force play? Even if thrown out it would still leave the tying run at the plate for Guillen.
