I missed the first 4 innings of the game and I know hindsight is 20-20, but should Zito have been pulled once he walked the first run in?
I mean, it sounds like he was clearly having a bad Zito day. I thought it was made clear that the leash would be extremely short today.
Hey, what was the score heading into the 9th inning on October 3, 1951?!?!?!

Actually Urban made a good observation in the pre-game
In hindsight it was probably stupid of management to move Cain up a day. Because of off days the last few weeks, the pitchers have been pitching on 5 days rest lately. Also, the decision was made late, so his normal schedule was also disrupted.
I’m not making excuses for Cain, but as I said in hindsight it probably would have been better to have him pitching on his scheduled day.

So I Googled "Guillen Sucks." This is the first link.
Now, a year and a half into his three contract, not only do Royal fans think Guillen is nothing special and quite frankly sucks, but Guillen himself thinks the same. Here some feel good comments from the so-called Royals’ slugger:
"I hate making excuses," he said. "If I suck, then I suck. And I suck. That’s the way I’m playing. If you suck, you suck. You have to take responsibility in this game. Right now, that’s the way I feel.
"Yes, I suck."
Well there you have it. Wait, there’s more:
"I’m embarrassed by the money that I’m making," Guillen said, "and playing the way I’ve been playing. I’ll swear that on my kids’ (lives). I feel very embarrassed.
"Sometimes, I feel I should take money out of my own pocket and buy tickets for every fan. Because you know what? For a $12-million man, these are not the numbers you should be expecting. I admit it. I’m not playing to my potential."

Bright side
Latos would be my first choice for Padre I’d like to beat in the decisive game
Better available PH choices just then:
FSanchez
Renteria
Burriss
Velez
Whiteside
Affeldt
Lincecum
Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher?
And bumgarner

No. He didn't.
He was in the on-deck circle, but then was called back and Zito was allowed to hit. All so that Zito could go ahead and walk Stauffer to lead off the next inning.

I’d love for nothing more than the team pay us back by finally showing up offensively, defensively against that fucker Latos. Cream him tomorrow Giants!

Latos is clear the better pitcher, no?
The Strasburg railroad is in the backshop for repairs to the engineer's driver rod. E.T.R. late 2011 or so.
I don't think so
he’s been slumping of late but the ERA is close and I would imagine batting average against is better for Sanchez. If Sanchez can throw strikes I think he’s a very tough match up for them.
No pitcher is indestructible
I point you to Matt Cain last night. We just need our sluggers to loosen up and deliver and for Sanchez to not choke.

With that extra flourish...
Of the leadoff walk of the pitcher, after Bochy let him hit in the bottom of the 3rd. That extra run kind of changed the dynamic of things in the 9th, wouldn’t you say?

They have got to get started earlier tomorrow.
Just when they start getting to them, they run out of outs. They can’t piss away the first 5 or 6 innings of a game anymore trying to figure out a pitcher. The Padres seem to figure our pitchers out in a hurry. Tomorrow is all about their offense because Sanchez is going to melt-down sure as hell

They are a much better team than the padres.

I would say Braves, only because the team should be amped to try and win it for Bobby Cox, but then again
There’s no shame in getting swept by the Phillies….the Padres?
On 2 walks and some dinks
yay
"The criticism was so brutal that Sabean was forced to declare, at a press conference, "I am not an idiot." Thus, the pattern of Sabean's relationship to his critics was established."
I would have taken a walk from Guillen in the 9th...or a dink...or a HBP....or a balk...WP....whatevs
Guillen is so bad he turns a 1-0 fastball right down the middle into a GIDP
"The criticism was so brutal that Sabean was forced to declare, at a press conference, "I am not an idiot." Thus, the pattern of Sabean's relationship to his critics was established."
I really thought he was going to take like 3 or 4 pitches to give Ford a chance to run...
if for no other reason than to put more pressure on Bell(who by the way should have NOTHING left tomorrow if needed), but it didn’t turn out that way
Bell had NOTHING today
All you had to do was take pitches and he was missing badly but the giants always offer at the first thing not in the dirt and put it on the ground.
"The criticism was so brutal that Sabean was forced to declare, at a press conference, "I am not an idiot." Thus, the pattern of Sabean's relationship to his critics was established."
and apologies to the great Atlanta 1993 team
which is miles better than San Diego circa 2010
They have some similarities to the 1993 braves team
Tim stauffer has the same strike zone against the giants that greg maddux did in 1993.

So if Atlanta loses today, which appears likely, then ...
the Giants would need to lose 3 in a row to be out of play-offs. Good thing we have Cain ready to go Tuesday againts the Braves. Now I get why Bochy flip-flopped him and Zito.
I was under the impression that
if the Braves get swept by the Phillies, even if the Padres sweep us (knock on fucking wood), we’d still win the wildcard. Though we’d have to face the Phillies in the first round.

Trying to think positive thoughts…
…It will be better to hear K&K calling the Giants victory tomorrow.
…The Padres fans are now all excited again, a win tomorrow with an ATL win and their hopes are once again crushed.
…It would be nice to have Ross, Fontenot, Burrell and Guillen all go nuts on Latos tomorrow.
Guillen should never play again
But if he gets hot he can carry an entire team so he’s starting, science.
