How to score World Series tix

So, I want to take my Mom to the World Series (assuming, of course, that the Giants are in it).  She's 66 and lets' be honest - there may not be another chance in MY lifetime (I'm 39), let alone hers.

From a post in yesterdays non-game thread:

If you are among the lucky winners chosen for the World Series purchase opportunity, you will be notified via email, as will those not chosen, no later than tomorrow (Wednesday) night. On Friday, October 15th at 10am, winners will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the World Series (via online only) and will be allowed to purchase up to four tickets total. Please note that tickets available for purchase on Friday are extremely limited and include reserved seating and Standing Room Only and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

I have no connections; no special status; I don't even really have a whole lot of time or money.  I can, however, write scripts to spam websites (although I don't think I can get through a capcha). So what exactly does "first-come, first-serve" mean?    Stand in line all night at 3rd & King tomorrow?   Set up an old school autodialer on the phone?   Does anyone want to pool for 2 tickets each? (double the chances).  I could certainly use 4 tickets (take wife and kid).  I would prefer game 7  since... hey, GAME 7.

In 2002 the going rate from outside scalpers was around $300-$400.

A friend of mine got a very nice field club seat for $400 from a very nervous couple who demanded that he not reveal where he got the ticket from as the others in the section would be aghast to learn they’d scalped the seat. “Just say someone gave it to you…GAVE it to you…” LOL

I was in my season tickets seat VR304 and then we agreed that to switch for a few innings around the 4th. I went down to that choice seat and Jason Schmidt promptly forgot how to get people out. JESUS – TAKE ME BACK TO VR304!

No, the NLCS had a brief…VERY BRIEF opportunity for us peons to also buy tickets. I think they went on sale at 3pm and were gone by like 3:15. That’s how we got our $40 SRO’s for Game #5. Now going for ~$150 on StubHub.

This time us shlubs don’t even get a crack at the SRO’s

gotcha

A friend ended up with a crack at it because he organizes a group outing each year.

All I get is calls from the A’s every year about season tickets because I bought A SINGLE TICKET to A SINGLE GAME three years ago. Marketing 101 FTW!

I got the email from the Giants yesterday

The complete email makes it sound like the lottery is only for season ticket holders. Also note that it says I’m automatically entered, so it’s not a case of me having to enter multiple times to increase my odds. If I’m a winner in the lottery, they’ll give me a special code and access to an online sale Friday:

With the Giants series victory in Atlanta last night, playoff fever is hotter than ever. With that, Season Ticketholders are asking about the availability of additional World Series tickets.

The Giants have never previously been able to offer our Season Ticketholders the opportunity to purchase additional World Series tickets over and above the ability to purchase the seats you hold on your account. Ticket inventory for these marquee events is extremely limited due to the various obligations we must meet for Major League Baseball.

In an effort to offer all Season Ticketholders another shot at the extremely limited available World Series tickets, we have established a ticket lottery for the chance to purchase extra seats. As a Season Ticketholder, you will be automatically entered in to this Lottery. No registration is required.

While there is not enough inventory to offer every Season Ticketholder the ability to purchase additional World Series tickets, we wish to thank you again for your commitment and loyalty to the Giants. We hope that you are greatly enjoying the incredible excitement of the 2010 Postseason. We will see you at AT&T Park for the National League Championship Series next week!

As I posted on another thread… if you lucky season ticket holders do get the chance to buy extra WS tickets, please do so! Someone here will buy them. I can guarantee we’d buy 2 –
even if they are SRO. (We’ve got SRO to game 5 of the NLCS, so we ain’t picky.)

Right now on Stubhub SRO for the WS is going for a minimum of $500 each – I know that’s too expensive for us, probably is for a lot of people.

I’m going to second this. If anyone has the chance to buy extra tickets, please, please do! I’m up for paying a little over face value for two tickets, even.

I'm still in the old thread.

I think most people are like me; more personal demand than supply

I share 4 tickets with 3 partners, so we get one ticket to each game. If I’m lucky enough to win the lottery and buy extra WS tickets, it’ll mean my wife and son can go to the game.

will they give you seats together?

I don’t really know how season tickets work, and less about what they do in the postseason when the glitterati will be sponging up good seats.

Agreed

If selected, I plan on buying as many as possible. Friends and family get first pick, then McCovens, then StubHub.

just called and they said if your not in lottery then your best chance is MLB.com.they should have a hand full.

Dude what your asking for is impossible

Lol game 7 of the world series 4 ticks is pricey. You have to cough up the cash to get that many tickets.

by waffles on Oct 13, 2010 5:04 PM PDT reply actions

I Did it in 2002

bought them off Craigslist from then Gov. Gray Davis’s press secretary. Set me back $1700 for four seats, seven rows from the top of the stadium, and still one of the best purchases in my life.

this year, I live in New York- if we play the Yankees I will also go to game seven and hope I can go 1 for 2 on these things.

IF the Giants make it that far and IF they play game 7, it’s in SF so you’ll have to fly out. You could go to one of the 3 AL hosted games.
