I don't feel the dread nearly as much...at least the Giants showed signs of life.
I also love that Rowand could end up being a hero in a clinching game.
I’m surprised to see as much doubt an’ doom as there has been around here. I fully realize 1) what the score was, and 2) that I’m on the internet, but come on! This team has surprised us countless times over this season. No reason to be sure that would stop with this series.

But I was floored that Adrian Gonzalez, the Padres’ best player and reputed leader, chose to indulge a Cubs beat reporter from the Chicago-Sun Times who asked about his free-agency in 2012.
"There’s definitely a lot of positives about Chicago that if they made an offer, I would be interested in it," Gonzalez said in the story.

Well… 3 more games to try. I don’t like what getting swept will do for the staff should the Giants make the playoffs, but it is certainly more important to actually get there first. Matt Cain had a bad game tonight. If the pitchers suck, the team has almost zero chance of winning the game. We’ve known this for the past two years.
that's true of every team

never ever called unless it looks like they lean into it
It is “supposed” to be not a HBP if they make no effort to get out of the way. Either way, the height challenged batter couldn’t get out of the way of that one.
If he had been ruled to have swung, then it would not have been HBP. So that whole debacle turned on the b.s. no swing call.
The Strasburg railroad is in the backshop for repairs to the engineer's driver rod. E.T.R. late 2011 or so.
Yes
The swing could have gone either way. I don’t think he swung at it.
The bat clearly broke the plane of home plate, but his wrists didn’t snap very hard, which is prolly what gave him the call.
So I guess if a batter pirouettes all the way around without snapping his wrists it’s no swing these days
The Strasburg railroad is in the backshop for repairs to the engineer's driver rod. E.T.R. late 2011 or so.
He could have moved his feet if he wasn’t swinging and stopping his swing. He is clearly flinchy and jittery enough to skip a ball.

I think Gwynn was also playing Huff to pull, in the alley.
No doubles defense, but shaded to pull a bit.
Plus with the tying run at the plate it makes sense to play no doubles defense. Fuck the runner on base but you don’t want the guy hitting to be in scoring position.
I CAN HAZ MARK REYNOLDS?
that just plain sucked. gregerson shutting them down was the tipping point of the game.
Also, the ump not calling strike 3 on Gonzalez right before the HR was bs, considering he called it strikes the rest of the night

I’m not sure why the first base coach wasn’t helping more on that unless Freddy just ignored him.
Are you serious? He had some of the best AB’s for the Giants tonight. The Huff out fooled us all so I cannot blame him for running. The only thing he fucked up on was the ball that bounced off his glove. Aside from that he was fantastic.
