OT: New Pokemon Game
I am kind of excited about a new game, but I don't want to devote countless hours to breeding. Maybe something awesome, though.

I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

More excited about soul silver and heart gold than about a new game. However the biggest change i want is instead of water/fire/grass how about the trio of dark, fighting, and physic. would be the same rock/paper/scissors effect and alot more awesome.

I guess
But water/fire/grass is the perfect triangle and it’s been that way for four generations already. To make dark/fighting/psychic work, you’d need to give the psychic starter Miracle Eye or an ability to negate dark’s immunity to psychic moves.

i was thinking along the lines of an ability. or for an interesting twist do like grass physhic (which is my card game types lol) fire dark and fighting water. that actually seems broken and not a good idea but after the ho hum new additions in diamond pearl im looking for a change

Ok i thought about it and heres how it would work. LIke in red/blue your starter was kind of a difficulty level thing. Bulbasaur was easier, at least in the beginning, etc. Anyway so the start with fighting/physic,dark would be a difficulty thing with physic being the most difficult because it wont work on your rival thus forcing you to raise a more balanced team. That would actually pretty sick and add some replay value.

If they can do it in a balanced way, I’d be all for it.

I’m extremely excited about SoulSilver (HeartGold can suck it!).
I don't know about that, to the groin.

I just like silver better than gold. I also like souls better than hearts. Therefore…

Holla!
I always get the “second” version; Blue>Red, Silver>Gold, Sapphire>Ruby, Pearl>Diamond (though I ended up with Red and Gold as well anyway).
Dark/Fight/Psychic doesn’t work because Psychic doesn’t hit Dark at all. In Water/Fire/Grass, each STAB attack is not very effective, but at least it does damage. You’d have to give the Psychic starter a non-STAB move early, which would make it a lot weaker overall because you’d lose the early STAB move which is good for every other type.
Fight/Fly/Ice would be a better combo if you’re going to mess with that, but I think they should stay faithful.
Damn it, Quincy! ;)
There was some discussion of this on Serebii message boards, where someone brought up Fighting/Rock/Flying as the triangle, but again, I’d stick with the tradition.

In preparation for SoulSilver I’ve actually been leveling up my legendaries in Diamond. And I finally caught that roaming bitch Cresselia. I also realized that I never caught my Latios in Emerald. Sounds like a good pet project with my grad school applications finally out of the way.
I’m mad that the Mew wifi event going on right now is Japan only. But I’m still going to go to gamestop and get my stupid shiny Pichu.

Take your MOST-PLAYED Pokemon game, gimme your time logged. Mine is:
Pearl – 398:02
Got all 493 Pokemon legitimately obtained (Arceus, Darkrai, and Shaymin were obtained over GTS from a guy who hacked the event things, but actually caught them; either way, I didn’t do any hacking), and I’ve got two EV-trained and IV-bred competitive battle teams, one Uber and one OU.
I played over 500 hours on Sapphire. Full Pokedex and I leveled my original elite 4 team to 100.

What, did you beat the story, then catch a few more, and drop the game or something? Come ON, let’s see some COMMITMENT!
:)
Can’t…retain…interest…gaaaah! Needs more things to do!

When you beat Red in Gold version, who do you battle/in which areas do you train to level up all of your desired Pokedex fillers?

Elite Four typically have the highest Pokemon, so it’s best to grab an Exp. Share and train there (combining it with the “lead with thing you want to level then immediately switch” method if you’ve got enough high-level pokes who can take damage). But there’s plenty to do; you probably shouldn’t beat the whole game in 45 hours. 20+ for the main quest, then typically 40+ for the dex, though I suppose it was smaller back then.
One thing: I really like the music that plays in Gold/Silver after you beat the Elite Four/Red in the credits. So that’s got that plan going for it.
I was doing a little of that when I finished the quest, but then I set it aside. Perhaps I can do it in periodic bursts.
