A very special announcement from McCovey Chronicles
I don't get it either, but Michael Lewis -- author of Moneyball and The Blind Side -- has agreed to share an exclusive sneak preview of his forthcoming book, Up the Middle, with McCovey Chronicles. He approached me, much to my surprise, and I agreed before he even finished the sentence.
I hate to sound like a blushing fanboy, but, wow. This is unbelievable. The preview is in .pdf format, so my apologies to those of you with slow connections.

Giants @ ’Stros are one of the Opening Day games:
ESPN will televise 10 Spring Training games, each weekday at 1 p.m., beginning March 22 through Friday, April 2. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise five opening day games Monday, April 5 – St. Louis at Cincinnati at 1 p.m. (ESPN HD), Cleveland at Chicago White Sox at 2 p.m. (ESPN2 HD), Chicago Cubs at Atlanta at 4 p.m. (ESPN HD), San Francisco at Houston at 7 p.m. (ESPN2 HD), and Minnesota at the L.A. Angels at 10 p.m. (ESPN2 HD).

I was surprised he wasn’t traded. I’ll heard Sabean was walking around the winter dangling his prized Bobcock before the other GMs.
I guess no one bit.
If the other GM was hesitant, Sabean could just whip out Bocock and dangle it would be impossible not

I think he should pitch a tent outside Sabean’s office and spit in his face when he gets there. How could the organization go from having him as the seminal piece of the defense up the box to just letting him go and getting frustrated when he doesn’t perform every single time he’s asked?

I was surprised too. Especially after playing with Bocock all summer by keeping him on the roster. To jerk him around by letting him loose seems premature given the interest other teams have shown in his ability to get to balls.

I never had a use for ebooks … until I came here and had to leave my whole library across the ocean, and without a set place to live would like to have his library with him at all times. I’ve got a set of books I refer to for writing purposes, and luckily I had the foresight to bring the most important one with me, but damn I miss the others and damn I’m not going to buy physical copies again.
So now I am definitely in e-book mode and this looks so much prettier than a Kindle. Ooh landscape mode! facing pages!

Right now, the Astros are up 3-0 in the 8th. The crowd is getting really amped up. Little do they know that the Mets will score 3 in the 9th, win it in 16 innings, and the Astros won’t win an NL pennant until almost 20 years later. LOL Astros fans.

rjb360- That really is a bizarre link from Michael Lewis supposed new book ‘Up the Middle’ and makes Amaro & the Phils look really foolish and somewhat dysfunctional.
Crazy stuff:
1. Dave Montogomery had to have a series of closed-door meetings with ownership because the Phils failed to claim Babock off waivers and the Blue Jays did instead?
2. Amaro stated that Babock was “Ozzie Smith with more lateral range.”
