Mychael Urban: Giants Playing Hardball? *VIDEO*
The first thing I thought when I heard the proposed salaries that Tim Lincecum ($13 million) and the Giants ($8 million) exchanged Tuesday was, "Huh?"

I hope he gets a similar deal that Felix Hernandez got

The Giant don't want it to go to arbitration, because they never want anything to go to arbitration.
But Lincecum and his agent have got to be pretty jazzed about their chances of winning, and the MLBPA would sure like them to go through with it.

Based on the Ryan Howard award, the Giants have no way of winning this case in arbitration. I think they set that price so that they can find a mid point on a pre-arb settlement.
No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you

If that is what they want (and I agree it is) then offering $8 million is pretty idiotic. They have no chance of winning the case at $8 million and thus the Lincecum camp has no reason to consider settling. At this point their only option is to just give him the $13 million and try to work out a multi-year contract.

hmmm, the Phils offered Howard 7, but he got 10. We don’t really know where the panel set it’s valuation, just that it was north of 8.5. The market is down a bit from 2 years ago. Will they say Tim is worth more than 10.5?
Top position players generally make more than top pitchers. I still don’t think the Giants will win this case, but it’s not a slam dunk.

The first thing I think of when I see a link to an Urban article/video is, “That’s guy is an idiot. I’m not clicking that.”
Same here
especially on the Molina video. I thought to myself, “do I want to watch Mychael Urban talk about Bengie Molina? No.”
