Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

Brandon-medders

The Giants and RHP Brandon Medders avoided arbitration on Saturday by agreeing to a one-year, $820,000 contract.
Medders, who turns 30 later this month, posted a 3.01 ERA in 61 appearances with the Giants last season after making the team out of Spring Training. Pitching mostly in low-leverage situations, Medders thrived in spite of averaging a lousy 4.19 BB/9.

I love this deal for the Giants

especially if he repeats his year from last year

This is really fitting for the off-season of “Meh”

Adopted brother of Jason Jarvis. To pass the time during the offseason I decided to try my hand at blogging about photography and music.

Look at the bright side, he gave up 6 bombs last year and 2 of them were in a game against the Bums that the Giants had already lost. Good value signing if you ask me

I ain't got much

but I play it for all it’s worth.

Hey, if Medders is successful and contributory I’ll be tickled pink.
He was, he may be again.

And if this shit happens again I’ll beat a dead horse with pictures of it again.
Now, since I’m feeling surly…

Meh

It is an arm, and a not terrible one at that. 850k, even for an arm to help stop the bleeding in a losing cause is alright with me.

Medders did a lot more than pitch in blowout games last year. He was an important part of the bullpen, and somehow managed to come into close games and not immediately give up walkoff homers like someone else making a lot more money. He even had that one save where the Giants made a rare late comeback and he shut the other team down so quickly that we were wishing he was our closer. I’m glad to have him back,

No Edgar, it's not your fault, it's the fault of the idiot that plays you

I bet he doesn’t make it through the year with the team.

I'm feeling optimistic...

…so I’m going to assume you mean he’ll pitch great and be flipped for a B+ or better prospect. :)

And when do you predict the alien mind switch to work on Brian Sabean?

The Giants Way™"If anybody deserves credit for this year’s turnaround it’s these two people, Brian and Bruce," Neukom said. "The encouraging thing is we think we’re back to playing baseball the way it ought to be played."
