Me, too, kinda. I just hope it’s “tired arm” or something. Watching him throw 87mph was a little stomach turning.

I could sort of see what the scouts meant when they said he “still had more in the arm.” He didn’t look like he was working hard to get that 87.

I too was puzzled by why the Padres kept hitting the ball into the ground, since he seemed to be working up in the zone. Maybe the Padres just suck.
His minor league splits suggest that he might have become more of a groundballer as the year went on. GB% was 34% in May, 42-45% for the bulk of the season, and then 51% in a few innings in September.

I saw Gio Gonzales pitch in the minors
And Bumgarner reminds me of him. Keeps stuff in the zone, doesn’t throw terribly fast, and is hittable. Gio had improved last I checked (not too well-informed on the A’s right now), and I imagine Madison will too, but I have to say: I expected better than this. A recent history of Lincecum, Cain, and Sanchez will do that to you, I suppose.

Nah
- “A few innings in September”? You should be ashamed.
- His 2009 GB rate is the same as his 2008 GB rate.
- You ignored April, in which he had a 43% GB%. So his GB% was consistent throughout the whole year, except for a fluky May.
- His 2009 GB rate is the same as his 2008 GB rate
Also, His 2009 GB rate is the same as his 2008 GB rate.

He didn’t seem to have a hard time getting to 91 or 92 when he needed it. Granted he didn’t throw that hard very often, but the couple times it happened it didn’t seem like he had to put a whole lot of effort to get there.

er, he hit 90 mph twice. Best fastball of the night was 90.4 mph.

Because he never did it?
