-Q: You had Bowker in the on-deck circle, for Molina’s spot, which didn’t come up in the eighth. You weren’t thinking of Posey there?
-BOCHY: Well, they had a right-hander up there. I had a guy on deck who got a big pinch-hit yesterday. And we couldn’t get him in. I’m looking to score more runs. If I’m going to take Bengie out and I hit Posey, I’m not going to catch him. Now I’m down to one catcher. He’s our insurance policy right now.

Bochy basically doesn't view Posey as a "catcher" yet
In the same transcript I quoted from, he said “We all want to see him play a little bit… [b]ut I’m going to go with my two catchers,” i.e. Whiteside and Molina.

“Play a little bit” = catch bullpen.

One more thing
The reason I posted this fanshot was the matter-of-fact nature of Bochy’s pronouncement, “I’m not going to catch him.” That just amazed me. Like it’s a given that you would NEVER put a prospect in at that position at the tail end of a blowout.
"The BB's are out. The BB's are being arseholes to me." - Brian Wilson.
YEAH WELL
Just THINK what would have happened if Bochy had let Buster hit there, put Whiteside into catch and then, with three outs to go in a blowout game, Whiteside had gotten injured. WE WOULD HAVE BEEN TOTALLY SCREWED!

guys, you just don’t get it. he was looking to score more runs, obviously bowker is a ton more likely to knock those runs in than buster, and the more runs they score the longer he can leave hinshaw in the game!

I’m not going to catch him
But he would use him if he had to? Wouldn’t he rather use him in a low pressure situation to “get his feet wet”?
Insanity is just a state of mind.
No way
A low pressure situation only causes high pressure situations to move into the area more rapidly (it’s just physics), so putting Posey in during those situations only increases the chances that he would be thrust into a veritable high-pressure maelstrom.

It’s what makes good managers who do things to win ballgames.

I still don't know
From whence the “bork” meme?
"The BB's are out. The BB's are being arseholes to me." - Brian Wilson.
Bochy looks like the Swedish chef from Muppets.
I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

Now that you mention it...
…Velez bears a certain resemblance. Can we have yet another nickname for him?

I think we want him to make his debut in the field.
It would be a silly concept, but I wouldn’t put it past our org.

Bochy: I want Frandsen back! Sabean: You’ll get Posey! Frandsen! Posey! Frandsen! Posey! Alright fine….Bumgardner then!

Can’t wait until next year if Bochy is back. If he doesn’t think he can catch now, I don’t see what will change between now and spring training. I’m going to go out on a limb and say Bochy doesn’t consider AFL a good place to learn to catch.
I hope Grant is right and this forms a rift between the FO and Bochy, leading to Bochy being gone.
