It should be noted that Sabean got really luck with Kent. The main player in that Matt Williams trade was Julian Tavarez.

some teams still buy in to the “clutch” myth and try to pitch around him with runners on, leading to him chasing ever more garbage because HE’S THE CLEANUP HITTER AND IT’S HIS JOB TO DRIVE THE RUNS IN
