Hanley and Uggla exchange words in locker room after game....
"A frustrated and injured Hanley Ramirez said Wednesday that he "got some people upset" for leaving the game early the night before with an injury, then teammate Dan Uggla openly argued with the NL batting leader in the clubhouse.
Uggla accused Ramirez of a lack of desire and effort to win. He also said Ramirez wasn't caring because he's already secured a $70 million, six-year contract.
Ramirez left the Marlins' 4-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves with a tight left hamstring. He was taken out of the lineup Wednesday about an hour before the game, and the team held a closed-door meeting."

But the odds of getting half your dream to come true seem better now.
Utter frustration and futility.

Lack of desire and effort to win, really? His +6.5 wins are tops on the Marlins by a large margin. If he really had a lack of desire, wouldn’t his numbers be much, much worse?
He is like Uribe. He is just that good naturally

I haven't looked at the stats
But maybe Uggla thinks he’s mailing it in down the stretch. Regardless of a $70 million dollar contract, staying up for meaningless games in that ballpark’s got to be a challenge.
"Desire" and "Ability" are two different things
Putting up good numbers doesn’t mean he’s giving his best effort. As good as Ramirez is, if he’s “dogging it”, isn’t it just as easy to say “Wow, just think if Ramirez’ desire matched his ability!”?
I have no idea whether Ramirez is mailing it in, but Uggla probably has the best seat in the house to make the call.

Reminds me of a couple years ago when some of the Mariners were accusing Ichiro of not caring… when he was the only player contributing anything of value that year.

Exchaging words happens every damn day...
But usually it’s more like this.
Uggla: “Hey, Hanley, surf and turf after the game tonight?”
Ramirez: “Sure.”
No, really, I have updated my blog this year: http://skaldheim.livejournal.com/tag/baseball
I propose this exchange
I’d exchange multiple utterances of “plentiful” for a single “opulent”.
Opulent is a fun word to say.
Opulent!

Corpulent is another good one
Maybe I just like the “pu” sound in both.

This is all just frustration.
Uggla is going to get traded in the next year IMO, but it’s not going to be b/c he hurt Hanley’s feelings.

Uggla was just frustrated. Ramirez is a gamer. Two years ago he was injured at the end of the season, but said he would play in the final series against the Mets who were fighting for a playoff spot, even if he had a broken leg. He played and they knocked the Mets out of contention. Last year with the Mets again needing to take the series to make the playoffs he walked past the Mets bench and told them “you guys are going home.” They did. Hanley is one of my favorite non-Giants, and I don’t have a lot of those. Uggla should look at his stats, then check out Hanley’s and shut the fuck up. Hanley earned that contract, while Uggla has fallen on his face in an attempt to earn a similar one.
