Dear Raf Rod
Please continue to display that plate discipline at higher levels and turn your wiry strength into dingerz.exe. Also this is important, if some guy named Shawon ever tries to talk to you, immediately run in the other direction. He is bad luck. And you might even say that he is el diablo. Congrats on a great first season, and good luck to you!

Prospect-wise, I am now strapped in place on the Thomas Neal bandwagon. Alderson gone, bumgarner throwing 88, posey not playing, anvil a murderer maybe…
Adopted Giant: Henry Sosa
And celebrating the achievements of others' adoptees, Joey Martinez and Nate Schierholtz

THE ARCHITECT
And I’m glad to see Hector Sanchez make a list. He’s one of my favorite prospects in the system (OBP!)

Mine too.
Still the loving, adoptive father of Hector Sanchez. And who doesn't love switch-hitting catchers with power and patience?

Doug Mapson, the Giants’ coordinator of amateur scouting, compared him to Bengie Molina.
luckily, he was talking about defense.

Maybe I am out of the loop, but this seems like a pretty obscure list to me. Of all of the non-Giants, the only one I know anything about is Mike Trout.

I think a lot of the top prospects from last year’s draft either didn’t sign right away or started in ssA/were moved up too quickly to be included on the list

Grichuk and Walla stand out to me, but the other names don’t ring a bell.

That’s not terribly unusual for the AZL. It’s not typically a prospect hotbed. Mostly unheralded grads from the DSL.
My Bucardo is better than yours.
A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.

This line about Concepcion made me recoil for a second
While Caldwell projects him as a starter, Concepcion drew an Armando Benitez comparison as a potential power reliever.
Of course, if he had Armando’s career it would be an amazing thing. But it’s not the type of player-comp I like to see as a Giants fan.

Concepcion
I saw about half of his starts in the AZL this year. The kid has gas and a great curve/change when he can throw it at least close to the strike zone. At least 15mph drop in speeds. Hitters would know the curve was coming but couldn’t hit it, when he had command. He does have some control/command issues which is why his ERA is somewhat high. but 70K’s in 54IP is nice.
I think its interesting RafRod is that high. He’s very young, and has decent plate discipline, but alot of work needs to be done. Izturis and Ochoa deserve some pub as well.

No surprise that Rodriguez is that high. A 16 year old, physically gifted player from the dominican who shows decent discipline is no minor thing.

With Hector Sanchez on the fast track, we can move that butcher Posey to right field.

Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.

wow. if RafRod grows to be 6-7 or 6-8, it’d be very surprised to see him still as an outfielder.
