Mini-wish list for giants lineup.
I'm not talking about Pujols, Mauer, and Utley, although they would be nice.
Trade the loose pieces and minor leaguers for just 3 players, and get rid of the high priced medium caliber player. Then go for Ryan Braun, left field, Hanley Ramirez ss, and Miguel Cabrera first base, although he can play several positions. One could then have a lineup of
Torres CF, cheap. speedster.
Velez second base, cheap speedster
Ramirez ss expensive,
Cabrera 1st base expensive
Pablo 3rd base cheap
Braun Left field expensive
Posey, c high signing bonus, cheap annual salary
Schierholtz right field cheap.
Of course we could play Bowker and not trade for Braun, and that would
be a cheap option for left field.
We traded Alderson for Sanchez, and we might not even keep Sanchez.
I crap I just woke up, I think I was typing optimism in my sleep. Darn

What was that dream about Jason Bay playing at the Bay?
Was that Tampa, or SanFrancisco?

ahahahaha
Hanley Ramirez is one of the best players in baseball, and no way is Milwaukee giving up Braun.

You arent talking Pujols or Mauer, so you throw in Hanley? The one player who might be better than both of them? haha. wow. I realize this is a dream, yikes man. Satire is fun, but wow. At least give the trades you plan to make so we can break them down and have more to think/make fun of please.

Except Hanley R. is playing for a team that cannot afford him. Even with a new Stadium.
They are always looking for prospects and a few cheap younger players.

…except this team that cannot afford him gave him $70 million last year, with a no trade clause on top of that.

I love it when a team signs a player to a long term club friendly deal and people still insist that the team can’t afford the player

sure we could get Hanley
it would also take something like Cain, Bumgarner, and Posey

My favorite part of the dream is the fungibility of Ryan Braun and John Bowker!
My Bucardo is better than yours.
A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.
I would like to know what other positions Miggy plays.
Also, we have the pieces to trade for those players. The only problem would be that after we traded for one of them we wouldn’t have the pieces to trade for the others

Now, I’m not talking about Adriana Lima and Bar Rafaeli, although they would be nice, I’m just thinking of Marissa Miller and Miranda Kerr.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at a position to be determined.
If any of them were my lady, it will be guaranteed that they will have Asian in them.

I was expecting this to be something like, “Play Posey and Bowker or Lewis, trade for a decent shortstop and see what kind of possibly underrated first basemen there might be out there” and I get, “TRADE FOR BRAUN, RAMIREZ AND CABRERA GIANTS BRASS”

I doubt we have the players to get one of those guys, let alone all three…

I think we can do it
Lincecum for Hanley, Cain for Braun (throw in Sanchez?), Bumgarner for Cabrera. Apply prospects liberally where needed.
I'm thinking but nothing's happening.
New starting rotation:
Zito, re-signed Penny, Martinez, Sadowski, and Randy Johnson after he gets a bionic shoulder. WINNER!

Hahahaha. I love that you’re listing Braun and Hanley as “expensive”. They are quite the opposite. I also love that in your lineup the two worst hitters are batting 1 and 2. Are you Andy Skeels?
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at a position to be determined.
This would be completely doable in Baseball Mogul.
I know you nerds know NOTHING about the real game of baseball, or any other athletic endeavor requiring teamwork under physical stress.

Trade a C for a C+. Then trade the C+ for a B-. B- for a B and so on until you had all A/A+ players. It was awesome. Salary cap hell though.

if you trade or sign a lot of your future pieces you lose depth and we know what that can do.
The Mets were formidable at the beginning of the year, buying and trading for some
major expensive players, but then injuries, and poor depth, and now they suck, Too bad the giants played them the first time when they were still good. My dream did comprise of acquiring young players. In the late fall of 1992 I had a similar dream about the giants acquiring Barry Bonds. Of course I was a lot younger and more in touch with the otherside. But my buddies told me I was crazy, he would be going to the Yankess no doubt.

So, your idea is to trade all our depth and future pieces for some big time players, one of which is very expensive?

I’m really confused about this whole thread.

Yes, the Giants are a big market, we can afford to sign big name players (if only a couple). The problem is that big name player is Barry Zito right now.

This is why the Giants need a military arm.
They could just invade Arlington and annex the guy. Historically, Elvis Andrus has always been considered part of the Giants organization.

any chance we could add grienke and pappelbon to your dream/mini-wish list? We would obviously have to give up zito and howry but i think it would be worth it in the long run.

I think we should target Longoria instead of Cabrera, and then just play Pablo at 1B. Tampa is a small market, so they really can’t afford Longoria’s contract.

you are all being way too logical.
You really cannot apply reality logic, to a dream. Dreams are inherently
discombobulated and surreal. Like trying to change a Dali, into a
Rembrandt. Which reminds me, at least we have Affeldt.
Of course it would be obscene to think we could easily get the games most elite hitters in their prime ages by trading our ‘loose pieces.’ The equally good, but younger hitters, on the other hand…
The very bad man traded my son...So now I'd like you all to meet my new son, Ryan "Aaron" Garko...Dammit it's just not the same!
