Post-Game Recap: The Giants, Math, and 1998 Conspire to Make Me Think We're Not Not In This Thing
Four hits. Four games back. Ten games to play.
Wait! We don't need that widget tonight. It's a good baseball night. Three more of these, and I'll start to excited. I'll also start to stockpile canned food and ammunition, but that's nothing that should concern you. Stay away from my canned food and ammunition.

from Martin & Orloff featuring David Cross.
Plot: This is the story of a marketing man and his shrink. A suicide attempt and a softball game; A PHD-toting stripper and a deranged Desert Storm vet; A giant sparerib costume and the world’s largest peenis; John Woo-style violence and Steel Magnolia-esque pathos. This is the story of Martin & Orloff.
I’m intrigued.

But I feel like this is going to be a pretty interesting offseason. I don’t think that the FO can ignore the obvious offensive deficiencies anymore, and, if they’re smart enough to drop the dead weight of molina and winn, it could be a great 2010.
I choose to watch the Giants try to score runs. Not because it is easy, but because it is hard.
Absolutely.
I fully expect the signing of someone big. We all know Holiday is out there, the Cards may have a lock on him, but there are definitely some trades that could be made for say….Fielder? Braun?

I’ll pass on an overweight first baseman who’s owed something like $11 million and isn’t locked up for much longer. If there’s one position it’s easy to get offense from, it’s first base.

Joking aside, Manny Malhotra is an absolute saint. He took a one year deal at a cap hit of $700,000 (turning down a four year offer from Atlanta for $8MM in the process), to play with San Jose. He wants to be on a winner.
You really don’t see this too often today in sports. It’s good to see that some athletes still prioritize winning over salary.
No shit?
Awesome! I hope Lord Stanley rewards him.

Granted, I don’t blame him from turning down an offer from Atlanta (the team is an absolute mess), but he was looking for a lot more money after a career season and being one of the top faceoff takers in the NHL last year. The lack of cap space definitely played a role in his decision, but it feels good that finally free agents are taking a discount to play in San Jose.

An egg roll is an appetizer which was originally eaten in East Asia and made by wrapping a combination of chopped vegetables (often mostly cabbage), meat, and sometimes noodles, in a sheet of dough, dipping the dough in egg or an egg wash, then deep frying it.

yea, then everyone jumped on me… i must’ve posted 70 comments that day… i also got on the love boat with Brian Wilson and everyone jumped on me for that too… Now i just bide my time for not caring anymore since people everyday say the same thing “AWWW DAMON SUCKZZZZ” “AWWWWW BRIAN WILSON IS A DEUCHE!”
Well, Damon Bruce is an asshole
But Brian Wilson has come along quite well from his days of “oh, a three run lead? I haven’t blown one of them in a couple weeks.”

It’s fun for me to be a dick about how much I don’t like Damon Bruce, so I hope you’ll take it in good fun and not think I’m an actual dick when I say that you personally are wrong about Damon Bruce.

Well, besides the fact that U R 5, i do like your opinions about the niners, and i will post soon, just don’t want to be one of those guys like, “oh hey the niners are good, and now this guy comes in and starts posting”
Yeah, I think that’s a good way to go. You get a much better feeling for which commenters are good and which ones you should generally just ignore when you lurk for a little bit beforehand.
It would be a terrible experience, for instance, for you to come around and get into a long argument with GeoMak. But by lurking, you understand now that while he’s not always dumb, he is always a jerk and maybe it’s best to just avoid his rants about DITKA.

haha, aight i will, but he’s just a jerk? kinda like some people here when they rant? i mean i can be a jerk to some people when i talk about how i like Damon… or how i like Brian Wilson when everyone hated him with his show… some people just didn’t get the comedy
He’s a semi-troll. He goes on because he’s interested in our team and loves the Bears (and, hence, Singletary) and wants to talk to like-minded people. But when he encounters somebody who is even a little bit un-like-minded, he turns into a raving fool and eventually resorts to saying things like “You just got schooled by my superior knowledge of football. It’s too bad you don’t know anything about the sport. PERIOD. THE END. CASE CLOSED. You’re an idiot.”

I turned the radio on for 2 minutes. Heard Bruce say the reason why the Giants didn’t sign Adam Dunn was because he struck out too much (never mind that they didn’t sign him because of his defense). I followed that by turning off the radio, thinking what an idiot Bruce is.
If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding.
I liked that they ran the “Your Giants are in town. Let’s play” ad instead of the “We’re in this thing” ad.
I give that full credit for the win.

I haven't checked the GDTs cause I watched the game on DVR
and I apologize if this was mentioned a few times, but there were some terrific Joe Morganisms on the espn broadcast.
My favorite was (not quite verbatim here): “They don’t even need Freddy Sanchez because they have Uribe to play second and Renteria at short. The Giants are really missing Renteria right now because he is such a clutch hitter. All throughout his career Renteria has been really clutch, and there have been games where they couldn’t get a runner over from 2nd to third, and if Renteria had been playing they would have won those games.”
What a foolish thing to say
