Isn’t that kind of how it works with young players? You play them and then see if they suck or not. Usually they do, but the times they don’t it makes it worth it.

Also, Schierholtz has still been a better hitter this year than Randy Winn. And hasn’t been playing regularly for quite a while. And Winn has.
