That’s all my point has ever been..If you just use stats you’re wrong..If you look at just Howry’s numbers he looks fine..But from watching this team the whole year he’s sucked in high pressure situations..So much so that he was removed from them and thrown in mop up duty

Billy Beane has done plenty of things that weren’t just about statistics. It’s been a few years, but doesn’t Moneyball basically say he traded Jeremy Giambi for John Mabry for largely “shake things up” kinds of reasons, even though he didn’t really like Mabry’s stats?

I never said working for a baseball team automatically makes you an expert..But I do find it funny that people who never have think they’re experts because they read the baseball prospectus book every year
Don’t want to say because it will earn me even more scorn.. I worked in an entry level position in the front office..The GM and President of the team’s office were on my floor.. Not the Dodgers though don’t worry
The pay is terrible and the hours are long until you make it to executive positions..Then the hours are long still but the pay is nice..Just decided I didn’t want that life
Right, and it becomes increasingly difficult to make it up the chain. What’s entry level in a baseball front office? Analyst? Pooling intel/reports on prospects and potential trades?
Different avenuess. One of the top baseball ops executives on the team I worked over started in marketing and then was able to move over and work his way up from there.. (this team is highly successful)

Isn’t that kind of how it works with young players? You play them and then see if they suck or not. Usually they do, but the times they don’t it makes it worth it.
Also, Schierholtz has still been a better hitter this year than Randy Winn. And hasn’t been playing regularly for quite a while. And Winn has.
