I guess I never responded to this, but I’m out. Fridays are a child-care day, and the East Bay smells funny.

I would make a big show of getting all offended, but we’re talking about Central Contra Costa, so I have no emotional investment.

I have actually lived in Central Contra Costa – I just have no emotional attachment to it.

I’d count Pleasant Hill as Eastern CoCo, especially since DVC’s right on the border with Concord. I suppose you could argue it’s still central, though.
Brian Sabean wants to kick tires. I want to kick Brian Sabean.
Adopted Giant: FREDEMPTION Lewis
yeah, i’m pretty sure it is. Most of the municipal stuff, county wise, there is considered central. Concord is still central, actually—in fact, it is almost exactly in the middle of the county. I don’t think you get to east until you get to pittsburgh (the geographical divide is significant)—and that area is when the municipal entities are east county, too.

My perceptions of eastern Contra Costa County, I think, are largely formed by the DVC campus and BART. When I was a kid, Concord was the end of the line on BART. Therefore, it and Pleasant Hill are eastern CoCo. Dammit.

The last time I can remember being in Pittsburg was 1998.
I was just looking at a map and I see you’re right about Concord being in the geographical center of the county. Now I feel like stupid people from the east coast who think Chicago is in the center of the country.

(One trick for that quiz if you’re from the East Bay, or at least northern Alameda County: think of street names around the Marin Circle. Almost all of them are named after counties.)
