From Schulman:
Manager Bruce Bochy said Tim Lincecum, who is supposed to play catch on flat ground today, will throw a bullpen session tomorrow if his back feels well enough.

That means Lincecum will not start before Monday, and perhaps later in the Rockies series. If Lincecum does not start Monday, Madison Bumgarner would get another start in his place.

With malice towards the Dodgers

by heimy25 on Sep 11, 2009 6:22 PM PDT reply actions

Baggs update:
UPDATE: Tim Lincecum played catch and extended it to 120 feet. He pitched out of his windup from flat ground, which involves the usual twists and turns in his hip and back. He’ll almost certainly throw a ‘pen Saturday and it looks like all lights are green for him to start Monday against the Rockies.

by imovermyhead on Sep 11, 2009 6:55 PM PDT up reply actions

yaaaaaaaay

I wonder if Bumgarner gets work out of the pen?? Or does he sit with his friend Posey?

Speaking of which, I was at the game Wednesday and noticed Bumgarner, Posey, and Martinez seemed to be together the whole time in the dugout. I can see why, aside from them playing in the minors together, that they also will never ever play again this year

Dear Giants,

Andre Ethier, RF
Manny Ramirez, LF
Matt Kemp, CF
James Loney, 1B
Casey Blake, 3B
Ronnie Belliard, 2B
Russell Martin, C
Hiroki Kuroda, P

Betting on small sample sizes, Joe Torre told Charley Steiner of KABC that Orlando Hudson isn’t starting against Matt Cain tonight because of his poor performance against the Giants’ pitcher (two singles, three walks in 24 plate appearances), but that Hudson should start Saturday.

Casey Blake is back in the starting lineup, but Torre said he warned Blake to let him know if he had the slightest hint of problem with his hamstring injury.

Other injury updates from Torre:

Jim Thome is “probably available” for a pinch-hitting situation.
Clayton Kershaw “has a little better range of motion with his right arm” but still needs to improve.
Randy Wolf is “feeling better” but probably won’t throw for a few days.

Fucking hell. I could be reading for polisci or preparing for my bassoon audition with SJSU’s music department director next week, rather than watch this bullshit.

I have to audition to prove my competency level, just to get lessons. I wonder how exactly I should play. Should I be shitty so I’ll get help? Should I be good and then prove I don’t need lessons? What the fuck. I just need help to get the fingerings down because bassoon is pretty fucking retarded when it wants to be. Sometimes high A sounds gorgeous, like a human voice singing. When I play it, it sounds like a Canadian goose stuck in a garbage disposal.

A little

The school doesn’t realize what it has. They have no bassoon majors in the entire school. They have someone who is ready and willing to learn the instrument and play it for the next few years in their ensembles. If I was a music major, I’d be a performance bassoon major. That never happens. But I guess since I’m a non-major, I’m rubbish.

I’m shelling out $50 for an hour lesson with a private instructor to get in shape for the audition. I’ve invested way too much—money, time and energy, and materials like reeds which aren’t cheap—to not get anywhere with this. I intend to look the director in the eye, and tell him while I respect him and his assessment of me, I am not the kind of person who takes no for an answer.
