So the very first team that could claim him, did? Nice work Sabes. English isn’t anything special, but come on…
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at a position to be determined.
@#$% Juan Uribe. Dios es grande.
whatever, he’s somebody else’s 40 man roster problem now. Sometimes, just don’t worry about things like that. If he’s not part of the future, and takes a 40 man roster spot, it really is no big deal to just let him go and make somebody else figure out how to create a 40 man roster spot for him.
To me, English / Bocock / Sadowski are the same. Who Cares.

Except Bocock will never be DFA’d.

maybe
he took Botchy’s dog to the vet after Frandsen, Posey, and NotProblem ran over it repeatedly in their cars.

If I’m overburdened, and I need to throw away one thing to be able to walk at normal speed, I’m going to throw away the thing that has the least value.

No surprise in that. The nationals need any and all the pitching help they can get, so they’d claim pretty much anyone mildly interesting.

right. The Giants’ now have a reputation around baseball for great pitching, and anyone they dump is going to get picked up. Someone who’s not good enough for the Giants’ staff may be more than good enough for the Nationals. Considering the Nationals’ record, they were obviously the first team to be offered English, and they jumped on it. He didn’t have a future here.

Brian Boccock’s wild upside is something like Mike Benjamin, but even that is a pipe dream. While English will be 25 in two days and didn’t show much this year, his minor league record is somewhat intriguing, with a very high K rate (again, except for this year), and he is left-handed. There’s something to be said for that. Bocock will be 25 next spring and has proven that he can’t hit at any level. English could be a useful LH bullpen arm.
I don’t have high expectations for English, but I really don’t understand the organization’s Bocock fetish.
GROUGTHINK ALERT
The first Chester Arthur fanboy ever.
For all his faults, he is still a great glove. That might be worth more than a left hander who can’t get left handers out in their mind.
(that and the Giants are thinner at SS than left handed relievers in the organization, so in the off chance that somebody does claim Bocock, the Giants are better served to have him within the org than English)

Cody Ransom had a great glove.

I liked English's upside
Hopefully he can have a good career in DC. He’s a classic example of how injuries can de-rail a career
