Blast from the Past
So on Saturday I went to a AAA game where the Rivercats (A's) played the Red Hawks (Rangers). When I showed up I was shocked to see the starter of the game was Brett Tomko. The former Giant starter is now 37, and he looked it. Against AAA hitters he only went 1.2 innings and gave 4 hits, 4 runs, and 2 walks. He did strike out 3 batters. His fastball was shockingly 93 mph despite his age. But my question is why would the A's have a guy like Tomko in their AAA team? Couldn't they give starts to younger (and better) options? But in relief came another ex Giant, Jerome Williams. He went 5.2 innings in relief of Tomko, and didn't allow a run. His stuff looked worse then it did with us, as it topped at 92 mph. Williams walked 6 batters and struck out 4. Williams looked very good and I'm thinking (maybe) he could get a September call up the way he pitched. Just thought I shared about 2 ex Giants in their quest back to the bigs.

I followed Tomko for a couple of years when he was with the Mariners. The funniest thing was Lou Pinella was the manager and totally made no attempt to disguise how much he disliked Tomko due to his lack of intensity and confidence. I’ve always felt that ‘Sweet’ Lou’s scorn probably had a big impact on Brett’s psyche the remainder of his career.

You said Williams stuff looked worse than it worse was us, and he walked six. Then you said he looked “very good.” Did you mean he looked handsome?
embarrassed father of over the hill Edgardo Renteria
Absolutely
What else could MadBum have meant? It’s BRETT TOMKO for the love of corn!

He looked good because he went 6 innings without giving up any runs. Not sure you’ll find many 240 pounders that are handsome though.
Praying that Tim Alderson doesn't come back to bite us
devastatingly handsome imo
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
PABLO SANDOVAL AM STEAL DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS.
Yes, it was those wonderful features that won the game for us today.

I believe
that pablo weighs 248, not 240. It’s perfectly legal for him to be as handsome as he wants.

Hot and sexy imho
Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all
If Dustin Pedroia played in Seattle, not many people would be talking about him.
GET THAT VORP SH!T OUTTA HERE!!!
It took me a good thirty seconds to realize those were different. I was staring at these posts like “Why are you talking to yourself online?”

NEEDS MOAR
Wow, my dominance in the comments that mention Brendan Fraser is pretty significant.
Although I’ll admit that I have not seen the Mummy III and my enthusiasm for it is pretty much less than nonexistent now. Blech.

Wasn't here for that
but when would you say that?

The only reason I can imagine why they want Brett Tomko
…is his wife:

Sergio Romo: striking out professional hitters since 2005. And winner of the 2012 NL Fireman of the Year Award!
She looks angry about taking off her pants.
Randy Winn is in time out until his OBP gets back over .330.
I’m pretty sure she’s putting them on.
I GUESS WE’LL NEVER KNOW!

I remember when I expected big things out of him
After his rookie campaign. Even after 2004. Silleh meh, and silleh youthful hopes and aspirations.
