Somebody on a stupid news clip I saw likened him to Bonds.

It’s cool that he’s hitting homeruns, but whatever man.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

That said, it IS cool that he’s playing well. I’m enjoying it while it lasts.

Bonds was never a threat to trip himself up.

I’m waiting for the FwF stats analysis to tell me how much is luck and where I should peg my expectations.

I can’t remember anybody since Bonds to hit a home run to right field in consecutive games. So there’s that.

That said, there has probably been many.

Hey, it shows all THREE of his home runs this year. That being said, Epicgenio Velez-mania is running wild all over me.

Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.

I love how he uses every last part and pound of his body to hit

He’s listed at 6’1, 160 (cough, cough). Those are nearly identical to my numbers, and trust me: with those proportions, it’s hard to get much power. The fact that he hit to that area of RF/CF, pure luck or not, is amazing. It’s easy to say this HR thing won’t keep up for him, but he’s still fun as hell to watch.

As I watch him homer to the farthest section of the field I am struck by the thought that we should never again bring up his weight in a public forum. Move along now.

Why? Is he sensitive about it?

by gvp914 on Aug 9, 2009 6:37 PM PDT up reply actions

You're new here. That is why you will be spared.

We once had a skinny left fielder who hit home runs.
Then , after awhile , we didn’t.

So if this latest version of the skinny home run hitting left fielder should , say , fulfil (out) the prophecy once again I’m hoping people never remember that he was once skinny.

Can you dig it?
I knew that you could.

Umm, the other left fielder wasn’t skinny for long.

eugenio at 2nd base?

Freddy Sanchez is a terrific defensive player with incredible range. I wouldn’t mind sliding Sanchez to short and putting Velez at second base. This will open up left field for a probable big bat for next season. I apologize Giants fans for talking about next year’s team. Don’t get me wrong, it feels good to have the Giants fever again because every game counts and I strongly feel the Giants can contend for the NL West but I’m bored and I feel like playing GM.

Giants 2010 Lineup:

2B Velez
SS Sanchez
3B Sandoval
LF Holiday or Bay
1B Garko or Nick Johnson
RF Schrholtz
CF Rowand
C Posey

Sanchez can not play SS

Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.

Maybe he could in a pinch, but with Velez to his left and Pablo to his right? Yowza.
