wow.
any umpire who misses a call that blatantly needs to be suspended for a month. It wasn’t even that close. And then he totally loses his cool with AZ’s manager.

Uh, what about this call down in LA?
3-1 count to Ethier, Furcal on first. Pitcher throws a pitch that is called a strike by the umpire and McCann’s throw nails Furcal… but then all of a sudden Ethier is on first and Furcal is safe at second because… the umpire decided to change his call of the pitch to a ball.
What the shit??

That's ridiculous!
What, is the plate umpire a Dodger fan?
“Oh, crap, that strike makes it a double play! Never mind, it was a ball. A ball, I tell you!”
If that umpire isn’t suspended, there should be an outrage! Oh, and the Dodgers should be docked 6 wins…

Listen to the play-by-play. Even Scully can’t believe how far in the tank these umps were for the Dodgers.

Also, Cox totally should have just sat in the dugout until the home plate umpire came over, then said “Oh sorry, I didn’t think the motions you make with your arm meant anything.”

The pitcher was also ejected after giving up a three-run home run to the next batter. Yeesh.

Wow
The umpire claims he called the pitch a ball as soon as McCann caught it. That is such utter bullshit.

That is f%$#@&g unbelievable
The only saving grace is that the Dodgers went on to lose that game and the next.

I hate MLB umpires
Can they please just shut the fuck up and quit trying to instigate. Some of these guys are on a serious power trip. I like that NFL Referees are told to ignore the coaches and not talk back.

To be honest
They have to act like a hardass.. they can’t doubt their calls or it will invite questions about every call. Reminds me of a radio DJ – you have to be arrogant to stay on the air.

which is probably why most radio stations are now automated

More likely because it’s cheaper than employing humans and the average radio listener isn’t very discriminating.

Yeah, they are really really bad
I hear them all the time out here in VA calling Nats games. They repeat the same catch-phrases (which are pretty bad to begin with) multiple times in a game. They blatantly favor the Nats on every call, which is understandable, as the station is for the DC Metro area, but it’s to the point of ignorance of baseball. Plus, they are hard to listen to. The entire Nats-Giants series (in SF) they complained about how unfair the strike-zone was for the Nats as compared to the Giants. It was incredibly annoying.
