You can tell if a pitcher does not have it on the first batter of the inning if they have been in most of the game already. We mainly got on him for this when he let zito turn to mash in the 7th inning of his starts.

One batter faced TOTAL is not enough to gauge the pitcher.

Because he didn’t throw it anywhere near the plate. He didn’t have it.

Bruce Bochy would like you to look at the career numbers and stop complaining.

Well Bochy took Romo out as soon as he could.

I just think Affeldt has earned the right to stay in for longer than he did.

You live and die with the guy with the sub 2 ERA who has induced a ton of DP’s this season, not the rookie with the 6+ ERA.

But but… ROMO SHOULD BE THE CLOSER!!!

I just think in the middle of a playoff race, you take chances with guys that can’t find the strike zone if you don’t have to.

Yes, he’s got good stuff, but if he can’t harness it and throw strikes, what good is it?

Were you talking about Affeldt or Romo?

I know my hate for Bengie is coloring my opinion, but I even put the blame for Pablo’s errant throw to home on Bengie, since I think Panda had it in his mind that Bengie would drop another backhand catch if he throws it in front of the plate.
