I’m just worried media outlets will start a Lee for Cy Young campaign.

It seems right now that the Cy Young is Timmy’s to lose

With malice towards the Dodgers

by heimy25 on Aug 6, 2009 11:46 AM PDT up reply actions

Matt Cain will have something to say about that before the year is over

by OTTOMATIC on Aug 6, 2009 11:49 AM PDT up reply actions

I think as the incumbent, Timmy has to have the edge over Cain if the numbers are close, even if Cain’s end up being slightly better.

With malice towards the Dodgers

It will come down to wins and ERA…. have to keep an eye on Carpenter too

by OTTOMATIC on Aug 6, 2009 11:55 AM PDT up reply actions

Carpenter may not even get to 200 innings, so I doubt it

by superk1ng on Aug 6, 2009 11:57 AM PDT up reply actions

Carpenter will likely win Comeback Player of the Year…but not Cy Young.

With malice towards the Dodgers

by heimy25 on Aug 6, 2009 11:58 AM PDT up reply actions

Wouldn’t the strikeout record become a factor the closer Timmy gets to 300?

by shanghaijim on Aug 6, 2009 3:01 PM PDT up reply actions

dammit, strikeout number, not record

by shanghaijim on Aug 6, 2009 3:01 PM PDT up reply actions

This might be a bad thing though. Winning an award like that will only increase salary(see Zito), so I’d rather have Timmy win again, so we can sign Cain cheaper. Timmy will already be expensive, but it’d be helpful to have Cain sign for slightly less.

Insanity is just a state of mind.

by KTJ on Aug 6, 2009 12:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Neither of them is going to be cheap…. but Timmy is hitting arbitration so 2 Cy youngs vs just 1 might net him another million or two…. and Cain is locked up for a few more years anyways

by OTTOMATIC on Aug 6, 2009 12:27 PM PDT up reply actions

hes got a good shot at the pitching triple crown.

right now

tied for second in mlb in wins

first in k’s

Slightly OT:

This is not exactly the most scientific work, but I was bored and wanted to see how Pablo would fare if he played home games in Philadelphia. So, I took Pablo’s hit-chart at ATT and super-imposed Citizens Bank over it:

Looks like about 9 more clear-cut homeruns, possibly more.

Again, this is probably wildly inaccurate, but it’s sorta fun to think about.
