Better Relief pitching
After today's dismal performance by Bob Howry, I've realized that the Giants need better relief pitching. And Sabean in his typical incompetence had it in his grasp but let it go. Who is this amazing closer?
It's Armando Benitez of course. Didn't you know that he's the seventh best relief pitcher of all time?
That Wired article is freaking weird and also shows you the possible importance of park adjustments when ranking players. According to these folks' analysis, Todd Helton is the 2nd best batter ever after Bonds. I just hope that the Giants management doesn't take their first course in advanced baseball statistics from these guys.

I get it!
Seriously, though, the Giants’ relievers have been solid this season, but I wish we had more relievers who threw 95+ with wicked sliders, curveballs, or changeups. A guy can dream, can’t he?
This has to be sarcasm
If not, may God have mercy on your soul

Wow, I'm an idiot.
So, I just realized that all players’ names show up as links in fanposts. If you click on Armando Benitez, it should take you to this article in Wired that claims he’s the seventh best relief pitcher of all time. And it is sarcasm; I guess I can’t pull that off on the internet.
Also despite some craptacular years with us, Benitez has had his fair share of pretty dominant ones.
I think it would best not to mention Armando Benitez ever again.
