JR’s retiring? Dammit, I saw there was some big Sharks news, so I was hoping they’d acquired Heatly.

by ololo3 on Aug 4, 2009 7:09 PM PDT up reply actions

They want an awful lot for Heatly.

by Merope on Aug 4, 2009 7:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Can’t argue that. If the trade doesn’t happen I won’t cry, but I’m kinda bummed to see Roenick retiring, nonetheless.

by ololo3 on Aug 4, 2009 7:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah JR going is a bummer. Interesting snippet in the Merc about how the Sharks waited to get Thornton, and waited to get Blake until the time and the contracts were right. Hopefully they won’t trade off everyone to get this guy and will exercise the same amount of caution.

by Merope on Aug 4, 2009 7:17 PM PDT up reply actions

The Senators are kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, though, since nobody else wants him.

I gotta admit, I don’t want Heatley either. Second trade demand in his career, making it public, refusing a trade to the Oilers, plus the fact that acquiring him would make it that much harder to re-sign Setoguchi and Pavelski.
