The entire P.K. (Post-Kalas) Phillies television crew is horrendous- their main play-by-play guy, Tom McCarthy, is just a warm body filling a seat, and Chris Wheeler is a jerk- but Matthews is absolutely excruciating. He has that rare combination of senseless “insight,” complete lack of command of his vocabulary, and a voice that might be the weirdest I’ve ever heard from a paid broadcaster. He sounds like he’s talking through wax paper, or something- I still can’t quite find the right description for his voice.

Mark Grant trying (and eating) to sell people on the greatness of his favorite Indian casino with the offer of a free ice cream sundae on Padres broadcasts still has him in the top three.

If only Grant would attempt to juggle chainsaws and Chrissy Russo would wear a fancy leotard, the circus that is the Padres would be complete.
