OT: Anyone going/gone to Outside Lands?

I'm going to the Outside Lands Festival on Sunday.  Anyone else going this weekend?  If you've been there before, are there any pearls of wisdom you could share with a first time participant?  I've been told not to drive because there is absolutely no parking, but what else should I know about?  If you are going, who are you most looking forward to seeing?  I'm hoping to see The Dead Weather, The Avett Brothers, at least part of the Modest Mouse performance, MIA, and of course, The D.

I’ll keep that in mind. Actually, I’m not driving so that won’t be a problem.

I was going to, but...

outdoor festivals aren’t my thing even in comfortable weather. TODAY …

I was interested in seeing Ryan Bingham and his Dead Horses today, and while at it check out Conor Oberst and Jason Mraz and Dave, but decided the discomfort wasn’t worth the auditory experience.

Tomorrow seems like a much nicer day for you, though.

I’m interested in going to an outside LAN festival

I went outside once.

The sun burned my eyes, so I quickly retreated back to my mother’s basement.

I went yesterday (Friday), and I’m going tomorrow as well. The parking situation is horrible, but public transportation is worse. Good luck getting on a MUNI bus/train within 2 hours of the show letting out, and we could only get through to one cab company without getting the “all circuits are busy” thing (only to discover that there was an hour wait to get a cab). I highly recommend finding a friend who will let you crash, or a bar/restaurant where you can relax and wait out the crowds.

All that being said, the concert itself was awesome, and I can’t wait to go back tomorrow. If you’re into the hip-hop, I highly recommend Atmosphere at 2:15.

Yeah, I was thinking about trying to see Atmosphere as well.

At the Outside Lands Festival in Golden Gate Park. If you mean at what stage I’m not sure. There are like 5 or 6 different stages. All the information is on the website.

a couple of things....

1. DONT FORGET ABOUT ATMOSPHERE IN THE CONCERT!!! they’re pure awesome compared to what this rap crap that they’re playing on the radio today…..ACTUAL LYRICS OTHER THAN SMACKING HOES AND GETTING MONEY

2. ADVIL! AND HELL OF ALOT OF IT! you’ll be half dead by the end of the concert

Just got back, went yesterday as well and will be going tomorrow. Excited for those mentioned except Tenacious D, plus Atmosphere and Band of Horses. Weather has been crazy good, especially for this neighborhood (I live near the park). Wear comfortable walking shoes and leave early to avoid all the crazy MUNI-fail that happens afterwards. If you don’t want to leave early, head to a bar afterwards and wait it out. Underdogs on 19th and Irving is pretty good and they have good Mexican food there. It’s owned by Nick from Nick’s Crispy Tacos on Polk.

Damn, missed that part. Saw them a few years ago when RR was opening for DMB. Wasn’t too familiar with RR before they announced the tour, but it was an awesome performance.

Last year’s lineup was so much better.

Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.

I agree. There is also a huge festival in the UK over the same three days. I am sure it hurt the bookings for both. Check out the lineup for the “Leeds Festival” Lots of groups I would’ve liked to see here
