Bochy riding horses into the ground
from Aug. 14 to Sept. 9 there's only 1 off day, it's Monday. But Bochy plans to just skip the 5th starter spot--Martinez has been sent to Fresno--so the Big Three starters will go 6 times in a row on their usual 4 days of rest. Timmy is scheduled for Wednesday vs the Phils. Last night Timm looked gassed late in the game (a decoy? maybe), he was coughing into a towel sitting on the bench. Give em a break, Bochy, rosters expand on Tuesday, we could use Pucetas or a bunch of relievers for one of the Phila games. Gonna need a 5th starter soon anyway.
Zito has shown better stamina recently than is usual for him. Sanchez is known for wearing down as the year goes on. Cain and Lincecum are warriors, but why risk their health? This is too soon to start treating the staff like it's do or die.

I say do.
The starters are definitely not as sharp and it makes me think of Atlanta through the 90’s. The big 3 always looked tired and vulnerable when the playoffs came. I like Pucettas and think he would make a nice 5thstarter but with all the Arb clock crap, he would never be allowed to tamper with that game.

Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at a position to be determined.
@#$% Juan Uribe. Dios es grande.
Not even Pucetas?

Personally I am glad have a four man rotation for a stretch. There is a big fall off in quality when we come around to our fifth starter. Furthermore if the tiring of pitchers in a concern, we still have a pretty awesome bullpen that I would be happy to let come in an inning or two earlier on occasion.

Wasn’t there another fanpost earlier about how Bochy is an idiot for not skipping 5th starter as much as possible and get Lincecum and Cain 2 more starts?

Everyone’s got one and everyone else’s stinks.

I like the skipping the fifth man thing, although I like it less with the amount of pitches Timmy threw last night. I understand why he did it, but I have a feeling he’s going to struggle in Philadelphia in his next start. Perhaps Brad Penny will be signed, or since the rosters will be expanded, he should abandon his plan and give them the extra day of rest with a call up getting the start. Considering it’s the Phillies with that heart of the order, a lefty would be a good idea.

I don’t believe there is any way he will get called up and I don’t think he should be. His K rate is way down this year, for whatever reason. I think he starts next year in Fresno and makes his debut sometime in August or September if all goes well.
Sometimes, there's a man...well, he's the man for his time and place.
I’m good with that plan.

I hope your’re right, with Sept 1 on Tuesday, that would be easy to do. We’ll see.
The role of ego is always much bigger in sports than a casual fan like me can appreciate. Like letting Zito throw so many pitches last nite…at least he didn’t seem to be laboring…woops, wrong thread.

I’m glad the games matter and all, but I’m going to be very interested to see how this can work if these three pitch every game…
