Horseshit that Timmy didn’t finish the game, little porcelain baby.

How’d he look, I only saw the first inning.

Seth Smith wore him out with a 13 pitch AB in the… seventh? I think? But he came back out for the eighth anyway- went for a season-high 127 pitches- and was the motherfuckin’ ice-cold killa.

Post Game Wrap: player picks

Kuip: Whiteside. he was great. threw out runners, etc. got on base and scored.

Jon: Panda – people pulling hair out and breaking out in hives. but no offense and Pablo hit the big fly. glad to have him back in there.

Flem: Brian Wilson – high pressure save situation. Giants need to win Lincecum starts. Can’t lose when he pitches like that. He faced the meat of the order for the Rockies and he got it done. He had a great fastball tonight. Swing thru stuff!

Kruk: Lincecum – He’s resolute. Big game. Big effort. He likes the limelight. He doesn’t have the best career numbers against Colorado, but he stepped up. He was brilliant. He’s a gift and is appreciated. He’s ours. He’s cool and has a dog named Cy.

Bonds stands alone.

It's a good thing they didn't try to squeeze in the Lon Simmons Memorial Pick on this one.

Because i don’t think there was a fifth Giant worth mentioning. Rowand’s bunt more than negates his catch, and… Uribe? Velez?

I have always had weird affection for Eli Whiteside, so I was happy to see him step up tonight.

And I pretty much never want to do anything again in my life except watch Timmy pitch.

I was confused… I can see a pitcher screwing that up, but Eli has been around the block, he should be able to bunt, right?

Why did they do that anyways? When you’re going to have a pinch hitter up next anywho? It didn’t seem like the time for “executing fundamentals in game situations” practice.

by Merope on Aug 28, 2009 10:24 PM PDT up reply actions

I think people are being a little unfair on how bad the bunt was. A suicide squeeze is different than other bunts — you must bunt the ball no matter where it is pitched. The pitch Whiteside had to bunt was probably in the worst location — high and outside.
