AFL Rosters Announced
The AFL rosters have been announced and the Giants have 6 members included in the Scottsdale team. Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, Thomas Neal, Joe Martinez, Daniel Runzler and Steve Edlefson.
Not many huge suprises there but it's nice to see some good prospects going there & it'll be interesting to see how they do.

I forget, how did the supreme court rule on that one?
Meet my new son: Sundrendy Windster, on the Curacao-SF express (via Arizona).
Crawford
I’m really interested to see how he does against tougher competition. Obviously he struggled a bit (offensively speaking) in Conn, but this winter will be an even bigger test. I would loooooooove to see him challenge Renteria next Spring for the SS spot (and yes, I fully realize this is wild wishful thinking).

I'm not sure about tougher
I don’t think that the AFL environment will be tougher than what Crawford faced in Conn.
1. The Eastern League was stock full of some of the highest rated pitching prospects in all of the minors this year. At least 2 pitchers went straight from the EL to starting in the majors this summer.
2. Dodd Park in Conn. is a house of horrors for a power hitter. Crawford was in no way the first hitter to be tamed by it. The parks in the AFL are, for the most part, notorious hitter’s parks.

Notorious hitter’s parks?
Yes to Hohokam. Maybe Phoenix. Scottsdale, where the Scorpions play, has a reputation for being a pitcher’s park, particularly to its deep center field. Peoria’s parks play very fair. So does Surprise.

Crawford
I attended a Connecticut Defenders game while visiting family in New Hampshire a week ago. I am by no means a person with any scouting experience, but I play Varsity baseball at a school of over 3,400, and understand what makes a good defensive player and such.
Furthermore, Brandon Crawford is a LEGIT shortstop. Two plays stuck out in particular. At one point in the game, he made the signature “Jeter” play from the 5 1/2 hole and showed off a ROCKET arm. Later in the game, he showed off excellent range when he got to a ball hit fairly well up the middle to start the double play.
If he can ever be a .750+ OPS guy, I would love to pencil him in a shortstop
waiting for 2011....
That lineup is solid
C – Posey
1B – Brandon Allen
2B – Chase d’Arnaud
3B – Darin Holcomb
SS – Crawford
LF – Neal
CF – Tabata
RF – Domonic Brown
They should be pretty good offensively and defensively. Their pitching looks a bit soft, but it looks like they’ve got some groundballers, so d’Arnaud, Crawford, and Holcomb should help a lot.
Proud father of Juan Carlos Perez. Think Albert Pujols at a position to be determined.
@#$% Juan Uribe. Dios es grande.
Potential batting order
d’Arnaud
Posey
Neal
Brown
Allen
Tabata
Holcomb
Crawford

And 3 catchers and only 1 1B and 1 3B. It’s a pretty ridiculous roster composition.

maybe Giants brass is going to explore
putting Pablo behind the plate next year and having Posey at 3b.
Nah, of course we all know Molina will be re signed.
LOL
Yeah, it looks like a roster the Phillies manager, Charlie Manuel, would put together for an all-star squad. Except that it actually has some Giants position players.

Hm...
The roster has been updated, and all Giants except Posey are off the list.

WTF?
Anybody check the rosters lately? The one posted for the Scorpions doesn’t have Crawford, Martinez, Runzler, or Edlefson listed. Also, the 2 Peoria teams have 19 pitchers listed for both teams, while none of the other rosters have more than 9 pitchers. Is there a link to the correct info?
BTW, Dustin Ackley will be playing for the Javelinas – should be his big coming out.

Found the link to the updated rosters
Baseball America has all the current info. All the Giants’ reps are set and they are the 6 that were named above, but several teams still have some players TBA.

I recommend reading the full list. This league is stacked with top-rated talent, especially position players, much more so than any winter league in the USA that I can remember. It wil be fun to see how they all match up against each other.

Buster
IDK, it’s going to be Tuff(y) for Buster to get playing time with Gosewisch on the roster too.

Posey should be on the team as he was mentioned in the press release. I also can’t find that Neal Edelefson, etc. are listed on the roster, but If they interviewed Martinez and he confirmed, I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be going.
I am stoked to see some more Posey. I saw him in S.T. and at a SJ game this year.
Already got the season pass for the AFL. Great up and coming talent this year.
