Runner on third, less than two outs, second best hitter in the National League at the plate, 3-2 the count, season on the line……..And that is the Giants for you. This same scene plays itself out over and over. There is something to the concept of clutch hitting, otherwise we would score a few of these times!

Then it becomes a segue for a Tulowitzki play from two years ago.

No, it has been an awful trip
first of all, it will be 5-5, not 5-4. Second of all, we should have easily swept Cincinnatti, who is just really terrible. The last game there was 100% representative of everything that is wrong with this team and the brain dead guys who hit 1-8 in the lineup. Thirdly, the defense (the basics of the game) have been awful the past few days, stupid mistakes abounding.
I hate this team and I hate the way that they play.
As painful as this has been, it’s quite difficult for me to get upset about a .500 roadtrip. I’d prefer to have run at least three more games, but this is basically what a team sets out to do… And a major improvement over the earlier part of the year.
The thing is, yeah, a .500 road trip isn’t bad considering but we’re not going to make the playoffs if we keep settling for “Well, a .500 road trip isn’t bad” especially when it includes games like the last one against the Reds and these last two against the Rockies.

Burks had 96 RBI in each of his two full Giants seasons, and he only played 3/4 of each of those seasons. I believe in 2000 he hit .344 and was snubbed a spot on the all-star team (he was hitting like .360 at the break).

The season is not over yet!!!
Most people would be happy with a split in Colorado. It isnt even September yet so lets hopefully stay close enough and hope we hit a hot streak like the rockies did a few years back
We will never EVER EVER hit enough to maintain a streak like that.

Still way to soon to write 'em off.
Six games games left against the Rockies, all at home. If the Giants do win tomorrow, do you think they walk away considering themselves successful?
seriously, no.
when you have two games with a 6-1 lead and a 2-0 lead (with Tim on the mound) and you lose both games, you shouldn’t be satisfied with that. I’m sick of settling.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
PABLO SANDOVAL AM STEAL DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS.
also, not sweeping in Cincy.
67-57 - Giants Series Record: 21-12-5, 15-4 at home
Adopted Giant: Daryl "Dealio" Maday - Not reassigned after all. Still a mediocre AA pitcher.
that too.
13 baserunners, 1 run.

Wrong team to root for.

All teams win games they shouldn’t and lose games they shouldn’t.
Bruce Bochy would like you to look at the career numbers and stop complaining.
Exactly
After blowing an 8 or 8.5 game lead with a month to go or whatever it was back in 1993, were the Giants satisfied because they put together a 103-win team? Probably not.

I’m not calling you a blind optimist but I sure hope the Giants don’t walk away from this road trip thinking they were successful, when they let so many games slip away thanks to bad defense, bad hitting and stupid decisions.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
PABLO SANDOVAL AM STEAL DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS.
On the other side the Dodgers and Rockies always find ways to win games they shouldn’t.

I know Bork sets the bar lower and lower, but I would hope to think that even the most lenient of lenient coaching staffs would be pretty upset about the way the Giants played that road trip. Couple more mistakes this game. Garko’s inexcusable cut-off. Yet another third with less than two out failure. I mean, if you’re a little league manager, you start yelling some profanities and pointing that finger.
But even with all the hideousness, it’s still a .500 road trip… And that leaves a lot of room for success. Especially with six games at home against the Rockies. When we get swept in that first home series, then I’ll start lamenting and gnashing my teeth.
If they win tomorrow
they’d probably look at it like the rest of us: probably should’ve swept the series.
The Giants only hope...
Is that baseball teams and players tend to play by the month. Let’s see what the September G-men look like. *Crosses fingers.

The Giants only hope...
Bochy falls down a well, Bengie gets moved out of the 4th spot, Clanky Velez sits on the bench with Flew, Torres and the Mole come back, and Carney gets fired.

How do people think we are going to win tomorrow? Is it blind hope? There is absolutely nothing in our favor.

And he is the one of the few Giants pitchers on the team that’s actually played for a contender.

In all fairness, Jason Marquis is not that good.

He owns the Giants
Marquis owns the Giants.
Who doesn't?

His ERA was good in 1997 and fine 2000-2001.
Brian Sabean wants to kick tires. I want to kick Brian Sabean.
Adopted Giant: Fred "OBP and UZR, Dammit!" Lewis
I guess I was thinking mostly of 2000
But there was one year (with the Rockies of course) when he was like 15-8 or something with an ERA over 5.

Learn the fing strike zone
The Rockies showed what professionals hitters do. They take pitches out of the zone and make the pitcher come in. Two key walks – Hawpe taking a couple close pitches and Qunitania. Meanwhile, the Giants play there game of hack at anything within s feet of the zone. it cost them the game. Molina swings at a 3-2 pitch about a foot out of the zone. Instead of 1st and 2nd no outs, he k’s into a DP. Sandoval has a cricket hack on a 3-2 pitch a foot low. Strands Velez on third with one out. I am so sick and tired of watching Giant hitters get themselves out. It is pathetic. Rowand swings at a slider a foot and a half outside and a foot low for the 1000th time this year. Jesus Christ do they guys ever learn? How bout looking at what GOOD hitters do???

Despite my obnoxious pantsh***ing
Why would a team/organization that has been making the same mistakes for the past five years suddenly turn into winners? And I’m not talking about records or the standings, which is the most objective way to measure, obviously, but it’s HOW they’re winning and losing. So many things wrong with this team, and those so many things are constantly, consistently repeated with little demonstration of a lesson learned. They’re addicts. They might sober up for a while, but they always fall off the wagon.
They’re still on the wagon, but the WHEELS fell off.
I think this team could be fine and contend but there are just too many strange things to make it come together: Bengie cleanup, strange matchup hysteria, etc. I just don’t get pulling some pitchers when you don’t need to and leaving others in when it’s obviously falling apart. I wouldn’t understand that kind of thinking in any business.
Oh well.
Off to read Heidegger for a class.

We do have quite a few games left against the Padres and D-Bags, and, as someone else mentioned, 6 at home against the Rox. The best we can hope for is a win tomorrow and a end to this godforsaken road trip.
67-57 - Giants Series Record: 21-12-5, 15-4 at home
Adopted Giant: Daryl "Dealio" Maday - Not reassigned after all. Still a mediocre AA pitcher.
These games hurt, sure. But there’s still 22 home games as opposed to 16 road games remaining this season. Hopefully they can pull a win out tomorrow and make it a 6-5 road trip, which wouldn’t be too bad. The Dodgers play the Rockies starting Tuesday and then the Rockies travel to San Francisco next weekend. If the Giants go at least 4-2 this coming homestand, they’re gonna be right in the thick of things going into September.
HOW ARE YOU SO OPTIMISTIC? Is there a drug I should be taking?
