Yesterday, MLB Network showed Sean Casey think that the SS had caught what went off the glove and was in fact a hit to LF. Putout went 6-7-3. Probably the only man ever to be thrown out at first from left.

Yes, he was shielding his eyes with his glove and looked very relieved when he caught it (but then again both he and I have that same look after every ball he catches).

I don’t necessarily disagree with the decision to pull Sanchez, but it’s interesting to see the about face in Bochy’s strategy. For most of the season he’s erred on the side of leaving the pitcher in, but in the last week or two he’s been pitch hitting much sooner.

I can’t remember a single instance when the opposing batter has swung at that 0-2 waste pitch. I bet its a running joke throughout the league. Many times it throws off the pitcher’s rythym and he ends up not being able to finish the inning. All because of the 0-2 waste pitch!
