I understand the Giants are in a race and all
but would it be a bad idea to just call up Bowker and tell him "look, you're our guy in left field for the rest of the year. Do what you need to do, but try and keep that approach you had at Fresno"? I mean, it's not like he can't do what Rowand can do out there. I think Bowker in left, Winn in center, and Schierholtz in right give us our best outfield. And then we can have our 12 million dollar defensive replacement/double play machine available for late inning hijinks.
I would say that the wise move would be to get Lewis and/or Bowker enough at bats over the remainder of the year so the Giants can see what they have going into next year. Who knows? You might catch lightening in a bottle. You know what you have with Rowand (not much) and Winn (again, not much, but at least better than Rowand).

I don’t really think Winn is better than Rowand at this point.

He’s been much worse, actually. But let’s face it, neither one is losing playing time – If Bowker gets starts, it’s instead of Lewis or Schierholtz. So no, I don’t want him up – they are both giving us OK production, and I don’t see why you’d risk that in the middle of a playoff race. Could Bowker be better? Maybe, though I doubt it. We can find out next year, when Winn is gone.

this is not happening. The douchebag announcers today made it very clear that Bochy was telling them before the game that his veterans need to step up and carry this team to the playoffs. That doesn’t sound like he’ll be benching them.

I'm calling it
Two weeks from now you will feel very silly for thinking that Velez would continue to be a valuable player.

John Bowker has a good 33 at bats which prove that he won’t be a useful player for this team this year.

Again
We’re getting OK production from Nate and Fred right now. Teams don’t bench productive players for someone like Bowker in the middle of a playoff race.

Oh no, I understand that there isn’t really room for Bowker right now. My comment was really just a Blolker joke.

OK seems pretty generous for what we’re getting from Nate. I just don’t see how he’s cemented himself into the lineup with what he’s done with the bat.

He hasn’t hit that well, but his defense goes a long why to make up for it.

Do people think his defense is really as good as UZR suggests? He just doesn’t look like an exceptional outfielder to me.

I don’t think anyone’s defense is as good as his UZR suggests, but I do think he’s pretty good. Faster than most RF, pretty average route-wise, and a great arm.

Rowand's overall stats may be better than Winns
But given a key situation, against a good pitcher, who happens to have a slider,
I would much prefer Winn in a key situation than Rowand. PERIOD.!

horrible manager
I am an intense Giants fan from New York, and can’t stand the way Bochy handles this team. First of all, Nate should never miss a start. For a team that can’t hit, this guy is the best pure hitting outfielder they have. That only should make it a no-brainer. Enough with Lewis already, he can’t field and has 15 rbi’s. The outfield should be Velez, Winn/Rowland, and Nate period. The world knows Edgar sucks, but our manager does not!. Start Uribe for most of the games and see what happens. Garko is an everyday player, since when? Since we got him! Platoon the guy and he might pay some dividends. We all know Molina needs to be moved, just for the fact that he clogs the bases, and he is not a number 4 hitter. Pablo batting cleanup is the right place for now. Nate seems like a pretty good choice for third.
With the pitching we have ,we all would have success managing this staff. This idiot finds a way to screw with it. Why does Affeldt get to face only one batter at a time, his numbers are great against both sides. Let him pitch to get his rhythm back. This move I loved, Righetti goes out to talk to Sanchez after the home run by Castillo; how about after the dropped ball by Lewis or after he falls behind Castillo. That is when Sanchez was upset! I know I was.
Look, they might be good enough to win the wild card, but this passive idiot is no help.
