A Few Notes on the Upcoming Road Trip
This upcoming 10 game road trip is going to be interesting. Given the Giants track record for road games this season, I am very nervous about how they will do. At the same time, I have a hint of confidence thinking that maybe they can go as good as 7-3. I have all sorts of mixed feelings because I keep telling myself, they can't play any worse on the road. When it's all said and done, we will all just have to wait and see but it's always fun to ponder about what may happen. Here are some intangibles that I have thought about for the upcoming road trip:
1. The Giants in recent history never seem to play well in New York against the Mets. Good news is, Shea Stadium no longer exists and maybe a new Citi Field and a struggling Mets team can help up win or atleast split the 4 game series. Shea Stadium was a hell hole for the Giants. I still remember Dusty not pinch hitting for Mark Gardner with the bases jacked, and the Benny Agbayani walk-off homerun.
2. Cincinatti scares me the most. Cincinatti scared me when they came into AT&T before they took 2 out of 3 from us because they were playing so poorly post All-Star break, I had a feeling they were going to break out. It happened to be against us unfortunately. The Reds ballpark is pretty live, so our pitching needs to be aware of giving up the long balls.
3. Coors Field........ Another horrible place for the Giants to play, especially when we are fighting the Rockies for the Wildcard spot. We do atleast have 6 more games at home against them, but these games are crucial.
I'm really pulling for these Giants, just like everyone else.... It's going to be interesting. How do you gus feel about the roadtrip? What will be there record?
I'm thinking 6-4, hoping for atleast 7-3:
@NY 3-1
@CIN 1-2
@COL 2-2
Total 6-4

i see 7 or 8 wins realistically..
I think this road trip can spark them and start them on another hot streak. A sweep of the lowly mets can get the ball rolling on the road.
4-0
2-1
2-2
As far as the Giants facing the Mets in New York, just find the gamethread featuring Armando and Balktastic Voyage. I was mostly just a lurker at that point, but I remember reading the gamethread as the seemingly impossible materialized into a shawl of maggots.
Billy Ripken is not a fuck face
Seeminigly impossible:
Giants dump Armando. But it happened a few days later. (i think)

I’m gonna go with 6-5. I guess you’re just pretending we don’t play a game at some point?

Yeah, I was gonna say, are we predicting a rainout somewhere on the trip?

I’m going with 7-3, although I’d never have said that before seeing the game Wednesday. If that game didn’t light a fire under their butts, I don’t know what will.

Since people like to quibble about poll answers, I’ll stick with the tradition. The “4-6” answer is a little broad as it includes both a wining record on the trip and losing record.

This Mets’ series is crucial to me. They’re pitching Santana tomorrow, but we’re countering with Matt Cain. Lincecum misses this series. The Mets are wracked with injuries, and now there’s some doubt that even David Wright is healthy. There’s no excuse to not taking three out of four. If we merely split or God forbid lose 3 of 4, it’s a good sign of impending doom for the rest of the trip, if not the season.

Probably around 5-5
We play pretty bad on the road

Fine 6-5

The Giants don’t haven’t played well on the road. They also seem adverse to sweeps. 6 and 5 would be wunnerfull, but I’m not going to get my hopes up.
At this point I’d be very interested in seeing the damn Rockies LOSE a game every once in awhile.
Coors at the end of an East Coast swing scares the shit out of me. How is it the Giants’ get to do this twice this year?

I don’t know what to expect to be honest; the 2 teams before the Rox are very beatable and are struggling but then the Giants aren’t very good on the road against any team. Did you guys know their longest winning streak this year was only 5 games and that was back in April? Even the Natinals had a 8 game win streak this year so if it’s anytime to get really hot, it’s now!
Win the inning.
So next week I have to drive across Iowa selling Hi-Speed Transmogrificators. Every time I’m in Iowa I find myself getting just bored out of my skull. Council Bluffs is full of pantywaists and old people, there’s only one bar in all of Davenport, and Des Moines’ claim to fame is some kind of giant popcorn ball that nobody’s allowed to take a bite of.
I’m going to have the time of my life on this road trip.

I feel like I'm a panelist on "The McLaughlin Group"
2-2 vs. Mets
Citi Field is playing like even more of a pitcher’s park than Shea did, apparently. This should help Cain and Sanchez, who are prone to giving up home runs, but it increases the chances the Giants will score -5 runs in the series. For some reason I feel good about Zito’s start tonight and figure Joey Martinez pitching close to home on Monday might help him. I predict Cain will throw 7 scoreless innings but lose 1-0.
2-1 vs. Reds
Goddammit I’m going to break things if Timmy can’t get his 13th win finally. Somehow between Zito and Cain they’ll find a way to get a second win. Panda will hit 5 dingerz in three days.
1-3 vs. Rockies
Tired Giants team plays wild card rival on the road, at high altitude, at the end of a long road trip. By the final game of the series, half the McCoven regulars will have passed out from alcohol poisoning.
Final record on road trip: 5-6

My bad..........
It is 11 games, not 10…… I dont know how I got 10 lol
I'm generally an optimist but when Bochy says this is an important road trip for us it reminds me
Yes, it reminds me of what he said at the beginning of the season “its important that we get off to a good sstart this year” or what he said after the allstar break, “its important that we start of the second half with a winning series or two”, Well we all know when Bochy says this kind of thing, the opposite is how the team responds. They had a team meeting about being more patient at the plate before the last game vs the bums. It lasted all of one freaking game. Except for Lewis, they continued to show no patience.
Really its time to move Lanceford into some other coaching position and hire a new hitting coach.
Aaron Rowand used all his years of experience to summon a batting strategy against a pitcher he’d never seen before that led to 3 Ks on 10 pitches. It’s not a Lansford issue. As discussed at great length, it’s an organizational philosophy.
