Buster Posey - updated swing analysis, with video
ProjectProspect.com recently posted an updated, detailed and technical swing analysis of Buster Posey. It includes 2.5 minutes of a video montage of him hitting in spring training and as a member of the SJ Giants. The analyst's conclusion: Buster's very polished now, but can get even better.

He thinks Posey could be a league average hitter right now
Thanks for the link
It really fleshes out the original article and makes it even better!

Nice article
All in all, Posey is a very polished hitter who has an ideal plan at the plate and very well could be the starting catcher for the Giants in 2010. Posey should be a perennial threat to post a .290-300 batting average and rack up his share of doubles. He also has the potential to produce a very strong on-base percentage and garner plenty of walks.
This is making me all tingly…

Potential to garner plenty of walks? The organization must not be that high on him

He has really hit well since going up to AAA which makes me hopeful that he will be our starting C early next year.

That’s all he’d have to do to not be a downgrade from Molina. Seems reasonable to think he could at least do that.

For a second I thought that was the line you were predicting for Posey. I was gonna be like, uh, dude draws walks!

Posey’s a much better prospect than Decker and much, much, much better prospect than Jensen.

He does have a nice swing. Didn’t Florida State fans have a song they would sing when Buster was at the plate? I wanna learn it

Probably went along the lines of the Ricky Hatton song.

hooray singles hitting catchers!
I blame my inability to avoid The Hype™ that comes with these players. I’ll set my hype phaser to Poor Man’s Jason Kendall.
