SB Nation/McCoven Search Function

PrintI've had some difficulties with searching the archives on this site, and I was wondering if this was because I'm missing something or if it's just a badly designed function.
Example: I once tried to find out what the origin of the whole Unrated/Classy meme was for Randy Winn, and went to the powersearch function and tried a bunch of different parameters (guessing that it originated at some time in March or April, which ultimately did turn out to be correct). The search function stalled out a couple times after a long wait, and other times just turned up random mentions of it. A good 15 minutes later I was no closer to finding the answer, I then sheepishly asked during a game thread for the origin of the meme and someone (Natto?) instantly had a link.
Moral: Ask Natto? But really, I was wondering if anyone has advice for how to navigate the search function more efficiently, since it seems that some McCovenites have figured it out. Thanks.

you were trying to be too fancy with the searches? I did a simple search for unrated and found it immediately. Then again a better solution is probably to just ask Natto. Or make number three starter AT BEST jokes until the pies come home.
Do they know to win the game a team has to actually score at least once?
That time I don’t think it was me. The search function is kind of tricky to use. I usually input some relevant search terms and a vague date and pray that what I want turns up. I usually find what I want eventually, but it requires some hunting and pecking.

And to bring my query to a close, I’ll say that even to find this link I tried the SBN search and got nowhere close to finding it. It took less than two seconds with google. I guess there’s a lesson there.

I have been known to sometimes resort to Google with “site:www.mccoveychronicles.com” in order to find something that I couldn’t find with the on-site search. Doesn’t work well for common search terms, though.

Yeah, I guess it’s fairly frustrating for most people, then. It’s worst when you’re trying to find something really specific that then has been repeated or mentioned in many other posts. It seems like it’s fastest to ask the board directly. I was trying to avoid doing that (GUYZ CAN U XXPLAIN YOUR’E SECRET JOKZ TO ME?) but the search function usually doesn’t help me find what I’m looking for.
