Wow. Saw Joaquin pitch the other night. He was consistently throwing 94-95 on the gun with his fastball (much louder pop than anybody else throwing that night for either team, including Madbum), though I have to say none of his other pitches were very impressive. Perhaps that’s why his K rates haven’t been very impressive this year, even with the power fb.
My Bucardo is better than yours.
A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.
Well done Waldis
Nice to see my adoptee getting a shot in the majors two years in a row, albeit probably brief in this case. Hope Joaquin ends up doing a bit better than Hinshaw. Bit of a suprise though, i’m guessing they felt they may as well get some extra relief help until they need to call up another starter. No suprise with Guzman going down for Sanchez though.

Hmmm
Torres on DL = Bowker called up
Freddy Sanchez activated = Guzman sent down
Joaquin called up = Sadowski sent down
When the Giants need a 5th starter on Wednesday (assuming it is Pucetas or Martinez and not Miller) they are going to need to vacate a roster spot, right? Who gets sent down to make room?
57-47 - Giants Series Record: 18-10-4, 14-2 at home
Adopted Giant: Daryl "Dealio" Maday - 3.66 ERA, .275 BAA, crappy 1.66 K/BB ratio in Norwich. OK.
I dont get why he was called up if he isnt going to start Wednesday

bochy said they'll need the relief help until then...
which says a lot about his confidence in Zito tomorrow, followed by Cain and Sanchez.
I’d vote for Aurilia. However, Bochy obviously seems averse to doing anything more than putting him on the DL for general suckiness. Can you drop/DFA someone who’s on the DL?
