Why MLB The Show 09 is the best game EVER!
So I recently have had it with MLB 2k9, and as an embittered Xbox 360 owner have been forced to be stuck with a shitty baseball video game over the past couple of years. I finally couldn't take it anymore though and sprang to buy a PS3 and MLB The Show 09 yesterday....well let me just say for those of you who don't have it...it's AWESOME!
I downloaded custom rosters that have all the teams top prospects and in this game you can actually edit batting stances and pitches and stuff that you can't edit on 2k9. There is also is to my knowledge no limit for editing the amount of players or creating players etc, so the modification is endless.
So because of this I also was able to download a classic roster set and with that today I played Giants-Dodgers, with Juan Marichal vs Sandy Koufax.
Let me just say that while it's just a video game I think I might have gotten a little bit of insight into how hard it might have been to face Koufax. I lost 4-0, and Koufax threw a 3 hit shutout with 15 K's. And only 1 BB, to Barry Bonds. :) It was pretty awesome too to have a starting outfield of Bonds-Mays-Bonds. :D
Anyway if anyone has this game I strongly recommend looking to download some of the classic rosters in the roster vault file sharing thingy online.

Yeah, this game is incredible. Take my advice and stay away from Road To The Show mode. You’ll never put your controller down

I've avoided RTTS
But I can’t stop playing my Giants franchise.

I dunno...
I rented it for a couple weeks and felt like it was too difficult to hit. Realistic? Probably. But I came straight from loving my MVP baseball game to this, and felt like it was just too difficult to enjoy. Realism is one thing, but if you can’t keep a batting average above .300 with your top hitter, then that’s just not fun for me.
(Yes, it is certainly possible that I just suck at baseball games, but I do consider myself an avid video game player and usually can succeed at most sports games that I apply myself to)
STEVE HOLM! refuses to be the odd man out.
It is very difficult
I had to start on the rookie difficulty and work myself up. The game will not let you get away with chasing bad pitches.

Actually, I think it’s hard because it’s not realistic. Every pitcher is Greg Maddux in this game. It turns guys with average stuff into good pitchers, and makes the ones with good stuff completely unhittable.

I disagree, I think there’s a pretty substantial difference between pitchers….it takes a little while to adjust to all of them, but you’ll notice the crappy pitchers make a ton more location mistakes
Thing A
Yeah, but even the wildest pitchers still throw strikes 80% of the time. It’s pretty rare that you manage to get a good hitter’s count, and walks are even rarer. I’m hitting .270 as a team and I’m in the top 5 in HR’s, but I still don’t score that many runs, because my team OBP is in Molina territory.

Sorry, but as far as baseball games go RBI Baseball 3 is the best ever.

Tyler Graham is my favorite San Jose Giant because he has smart balls.

Road to the show
I’m in my 3rd season on Road to the show. Most of the MLB rosters have changed and my player was a rule 5 draft pick by the Angels so that kind of sucks. Yesterday my pitching goal was to pitch around JJ Hardy to Face Adrian Gonzales…not too realistic in my opinion.
