yep, my first thought when Downs was sent down. If somebody gets hurt or needs a day off, we have to endure Aurilia.

More importantly,
What do we do if an infielder gets hurt during the game today? Lewis? Torres?

Alderson pitching today
6 innings, 3 hits, 3ER, 1BB, 3K
2 of those 3 hits were home runs. Those are the only mistakes he’s made in this game because he’s been cruising other wise.
he's just been pinch hit for
so he’s done for the day

I liked this from the All Star article on sfgiants.com
Anybody still wondering how special Cain and Lincecum are should consider a simple fact. They’re the first duo of Giants starting pitchers to be named All-Stars since eventual Hall of Famers Juan Marichal and Gaylord Perry made the NL squad in 1966.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.

This is ridiculous - why do we have 13 pitches?
I know Sanchez is my boy, but using him as the 8th man in the pen is idiotic; send him down and let him work on starting and regaining his control. Thanks to this particular piece of idiocy from Brian Sabean, today, we have no infielders, and our backups are Torres, Lewis, and Whiteside. WTF? Send down Sanchez, call up Frandsen.
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.
the Chron said that Sanchez is in the majors in the hope that teams will scout him and want to trade for him.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
PABLO SANDOVAL AM STEAL DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS.
hahaha i think if we want to keep his trade value up we should make sure no other team sees him. ever.

yeah, but that's a perverse reason
He’s not pitching much anyway. He has a lot of talent. Let him go prove it in AAA if you’re not giving him the shot in the majors.
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.
These problems would all be solved with Aurilia going away.
by North Side Chicago Expatriate Giants Fan on Jul 5, 2009 12:23 PM PDT up reply actions
well, a 13 man pitching staff is idiotic anyway
Though Richie certainly contributes. Right now though, I do the following:
1) Send down Richie and Jonathan Sanchez
2) Call up Kevin Frandsen and Jesus Guzman
Guzman gives us a RHB to play 1b against LHP; Frandsen can play all 3 IF positions, and not like Aurillia can “play” the IF.
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.
Sanchez makes sense if you pair him up with Zito...
Zito can start and when at the first signs of faltering (likely in the 4-6 inning) put in Sanchez to finish them out.
Status: So pissed that the Giants sold my wall of Ks to Johnsonville Sausages, that I'm boycotting purchasing anything at the park, or patronizing their sponsors.

fair point.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
PABLO SANDOVAL AM STEAL DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS.
to be fair, this is because of injury, not because Sandoval is being rested. I actually saw two different places mentioning Bochy as a potential manager of the year candidate.
Proud new dad of Edgardo errr Edgar Renteria!!!
Pablo available for pinch hitting
and should be available to start tomorrow
LOL Mets
Bases loaded one out in the sixth against Phillies, all star David Wright hits into DP. First and second one out in the eighth, Tatis vs. Park (the pitcher who he hit 2 grandslams in one inning against) another DP.

Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.
Career vs. Oswalt
Aurilia – .353 in 17 AB’S with 3 RBI
Flew – .571 in 14 AB’s
Bengie – .333 in 13 AB’s
Dwight – .292 in 24 AB’s
44-36 - Giants Series Record: 15-7-4, 11-2 at home
