Organization Prospect Depth Chart: Centerfield
For an organization that had one of the greatest players ever roaming centerfield the Giants centerfield prospects are very lean. Aaron Rowand is under contract for another 3.5 years however the minors are quite bare.
Here is my organization top prospects centerfielders
1. Mike McBryde AA
2. Karl Benusa R
3. Eugenio Velez AAA
Who are your SF Giants top centerfield prospects?
Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We’re born again, there’s new grass on the field.
A-roundin’ third, and headed for home, it’s a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way I feel.
Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach - I’m ready to play today;
Put me in, coach - I’m ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be centerfield.
Well, I spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin’ it from the bench;
You know I took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out.
So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio;
Don’t say "it ain’t so", you know the time is now.
Chorus
Yeah! I got it, I got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know I think it’s time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch ’em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) it’s gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

wow, that’s ugly.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
PABLO SANDOVAL AM STEAL DEATH, DESTROYER OF WORLDS.
This makes Rowand look a lot more serviceable.
Bruce Bochy would like you to look at the career numbers and stop complaining.
This makes Torres look like an invaluable piece of our bench.

I think you’d have to stick Francisco Peguero somewhere on the list. He’s doing alright in SK right now, though not hitting for much power. The scouts seemed to be pretty high on him heading into the season.
I do wonder, however, why he was sent out of Augusta after just 7 games when he played 50 games there last year and didn’t do horrible as a 19/20 y/o. Its not like he sucked in those 7 games from what I can tell (and I don’t believe he was injured, though I could be wrong.) That’s disappointing for sure, but given the lack of depth at this position in our system, he’s got to be discussed as a CF prospect.

2 or 3. McBryde is number one by default.

For a team that had one of the two greatest left fielders of all time, Jason Bay just doesn’t compare to that level of excellence
"he walked 18; new league record! Struck out 18, another new league record! He also hit the sportswriter, the PA announcer, the bull mascot twice..."
Wendell?
Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all
If Dustin Pedroia played in Seattle, not many people would be talking about him.
GET THAT VORP SH!T OUTTA HERE!!!
Is it b/c he was doing poorly in center or what?

Tyler Graham?
I dunno much about the kid, but I saw him play once in SJ and I’ll say this: he’s no Eugenio Velez.
Giants pitching coach Dave Righetti. "I treat Timmy differently from most pitchers: I leave him alone."
There's 3 ways to do something: the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power/ Ginats Way...
Depth chart
1. Rowand
2 – 20. Nobody
3. Lifelong minor league roster fillers.
A hot August weekday, before a small crowd, when the only thing at stake is the tissue-thin difference between a thing done well and a thing done ill. Insofar as the clutch hitter is not a sportswriter's myth, it is a vulgarity, like a writer who writes only for money.
In case of emergency, break glass, pull hose and pray:
1. Schierholtz
2. Frandsen
3. NOT VELEZ!

We also drafted Evan Crawford, Luis Munoz, and Brandon Kirby in this year’s draft during the later rounds. They all have to be rated lower than anyone in that top 3, however.
Merkin Valdez? Manuel Mateo? A rose by any other name...
Yet still above Velez.

Copeland used to play CF, he is about #4 or 5 outfielder for Fresno.
Juan Carlos Perez at Augusta probly fast enough, he’s trying playing 2B this yearj, really an outfielder.
McBryde did not really hit well last year for SJ in a hitter’s league. He is now the 3rd best slugger for Conn. after Pill and EME, so I he is hitting some. But 22 Ks in 127 ABs.
So yes it is slim after Rowand, Torres. And yes, we could see Velez in center this year. I still like the guy.
cheering for Adam Witter, who will hit bigleague dingers some day.
Still yelling "Go, Antoan"
1. McBryde (although I still have my doubts)
2. Evan Crawford (he’s good, and our depth is bad)
3. Shane Jordan (our depth is bad)
4. Tyler Graham
5. Karl Benusa
6. Charlie Culberson
Sergio Romo: striking out professional hitters since 2005. And winner of the 2012 NL Fireman of the Year Award!
Wow, Lyle, that looks almost exactly like my list (I mean with a few names changed just slightly to protect the innocent).

I take it you mean Crawford, Jordan, Graham, & Benusa are the nobodies you listed? Ha! I didn’t say it was a great list, but if I had to list them, that’s the way I’d go. And I don’t see any future for Culberson at 3B (hello, Mr. Dominguez!), so why not try him in CF? He at least hits like a CF.

Interesting
Charlie Culberson centerfielder. Has a nice ring to it. Now that is the kind of thinking that could get you a FREE lifetime subscription to McCovey Chronicles
