Houston Astros at San Francisco Giants, Jul 4, 2009 1:05 PM PDT

Lincecum!

Ortiz!

No television!

I predict that the Giants will score fewer than 13 runs. And is it bad that I'd rather they save their 13-runs-in-three-innings explosion for a game in which they're down 12 after six? Now that would be a game. (Kidding...last night was most welcome.)

Proud father of Barry Zito. As long as he keeps throwing strikes, that is.

Is Ortiz still a good hitting pitcher? He used to be one of the best as I recall.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that pie > cake, that Bochy is endowed by his creator with certain undeniable traits, that among these are veteran man-love, a gigantic skull, and the pursuit of the double switch.
Adopted Giant: Fred Lewis, who can still draw a walk.

Well our announcers have mentioned that he can swing the bat, but they do that for everyone.

How does he expect to surpass the 30 strike out game mark pitching like this!?

Adopted Giant Darren "Speedy" Ford. Said by Andrew Baggarly to be the fastest minor league player and the best defensive outfielder in the Giants Organization. Now playing for your San Jose Giants.

I remember when Russ Ortiz had a 3.36 ERA for the Giants, was their number one starter, and I was used to people like John Burkett or Bill Swift being the number one pitcher, and thought that was really good! TImes certainly change.

Giants 21 Astros 0: is there a skunk rule so we can have a sweep of the series now and start the next series?

Save some runs for Cain

Don’t save em, but score some runs for the cainmeister. Russ Ortiz an excellent 4 inning pitcher. He could go 4, and Sanchez 4, and then bring on MERKIN. Matt Herges today, and Jack Taschner yesterday, designated for assignment. Let some of the young pitchers mature, look at what former giant reliever, and now closer for seattle is doing! Let some of these kids mature as pitchers, they will be good. Lefties often, ala Sanchez take a little longer. Lefties that mature early like Zito, seems to have gone backwards.
