wikipedia (i know, not the law):
“Beanball” is a colloquialism used in baseball, for a ball thrown at an opposing player with the intention of striking him such as to cause harm, often connoting a throw at the player’s head (or “bean” in old-fashioned slang). A pitcher who throws beanballs often is known as a “headhunter.” The term may be applied to any sport in which a player on one team regularly attempts to throw a ball toward the general vicinity of a player of the opposite team, but is typically expected not to hit that player with the ball.

In cricket the equivalent term is “beamer.”

A bean ball (aka chin music) is a ball thrown with intent to hit the batter, often in the head. A batter hit by a bean ball is said to have been beaned. A bean ball should not be confused with an ordinary brushback pitch, which is intended to intimidate the batter rather than hit him.

For Garko, is this the first 3 game winning streak he’s experienced this season?

Well in the end that’s good for the Wild Card hopes. I just like these extra inning games.

by DFAAurillia on Jul 30, 2009 10:10 PM PDT up reply actions

I feel for the guy

They give him 40 AB’s over 3 different trips, which Burris gets 50 games and Richie sucks up a roster spot? At some point, you would be angry as well at the incompetence of the office

Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.

by Aadik on Jul 30, 2009 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions

He’s a utility man at best that is getting paid big bucks for this. Stop crying and go hit.

Yeah, I guess even if he has a point, flapping your gums to the press isn’t the way to make it.

Yea i agree, he’ll be up in september and get his shot, i mean with Renteria having bone spurs and having Burriss on the DL out for the year, Freddie having his occasional day offs, it’d be smart to have Frandsen as a back up, doesn’t it say something that he wasn’t involved in a trade or anything? i feel for the guy who’s been brought up, then sent back down and back and forth. He was given a shot at second and didn’t do well probably due to the lack of time, that’s just how i feel

by PiKAgiant on Jul 30, 2009 10:16 PM PDT up reply actions

You know, I feel for him, but I think it might have been his big mouth from earlier that probably cost him more playing time…

by nofreetime on Jul 30, 2009 10:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Shouldn't be mad about a move that doesn't effect you

The way Frandsen has hit up here he’s lucky to be being paid by the Giants organization

Sorry Kevin I love ya but you can’t talk like that when you’re hitting like that

by beat_la415 on Jul 30, 2009 10:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Burriss is rehabbing in San Francisco and took a good-natured ribbing for the electric scooter he’s using to get around. Pablo Sandoval took it for a spin in the crowded clubhouse.

Haha.
