The Dodgers didn’t deserve him.

Never lived up to his potential.

One of the greats (Dodger affiliation aside)
His parting words should be “Suck it, Russell Martin”.
Bowkermania has been put on hiatus for retooling.

He was the only one on their broadcast team worth listening to. The rest are blathering idiots.

I was sad to hear this. I am a Giants fan, but I have lived in Suthern California since I was three. As such, I have listened to a very large amount of Vin Scully called games over the years.
Vin Scully is, bar none, the best announcer I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. He has lost a bit off of his fastball, but that is natural for someone his age, and his voice still has the magic. It will be sad for me to see him go, not only because I will miss him, but also because it will be a reminder of my own aging and mortality.
Also, anyone who says that Vin Scully sucks is totally irrational.

i'll be irrational then
i’ve lived in socal for 12 years now and honestly i never took up the love for scully. i mean, he’s a tradition, which is all well and good, but dammit he was always so wrong with his information! wrong names, wrong pronunciation, wrong strike/ball count… i might be missing the emotional gene in favor of the rational gene, but give me a color commentator who remembers stories accurately and a play-by-play man who knows how many outs there are in the inning. i don’t think he “sucks”, but i just don’t find it an enjoyable night of baseball on tv.
i have no problem paying the $120 a year for mlb.tv so i can listen to K&K call our games because to me they are a superior experience.
p.s. i’ve also never known either of my grandfathers, so maybe vin reminds you of grand-pappy and that’s something i can’t share.

That's too bad
Vin is a treasure and one of the last great broadcasters left. We’re losing ties to the golden age of baseball radio voices. I wish him the best in the next stage of his life.
