McC Night Wrap: Continuing the Tradition of Greatness
In 2007, McC Night was the night Barry hit homerun #756. In 2008, a young dancer named Goofus McPenisbutter cha-cha'd his way into television mock history. And this year, we saw Tim Lincecum's career-high 15 K's and honored the woman who, with her husband, saved the already sold Giants from moving to St. Petersburg.
Thanks to Goofus for two things: one is organizing all this again; the other is for not dancing.
Thanks to Grant for founding this community; thanks to the early leaders who shaped this community into one that values intelligence, humor, analysis, humor, wit, knowledge, humor, and a cool kind of mutual respect and regard that makes it different from other webzsites. And thanks to all of you who contribute any of the above to this community.
It really IS a community. It was great seeing so many of you at Zeke's. I wish that we all could watch a game on some giant TV's (televisions or transvestites, either way) and have a Live Verbal Gameday Thread(tm). That would be funny.
Kitspool took some great pictures. They are, or soon will be, below. EDIT from WalrusMan: Kitspool's pictures can be found here.

Well
I was barely there. I got there, like, 10 minutes before we all headed over to the ballpark.
And then I sat all by myself up in the upper deck. Well, until I went down to watch from behind the seats on the field level. The point is I briefly met people and then I was all alone.

Ah yes, 1 other thing... the mound and the grounds crew in the 8th inning
There was a great moment that I don’t know whether they showed on tv, because it happened between innings. But to set it up…
In the bottom of the 8th, the sac de douche Pirates reliever (I don’t recall the name) was crying and fussing that there was a problem with the mound, and the umpire summoned the grounds crew, and ten minutes was consumed with fixing that hole. That was surely on tv.
What then happened between innings was a great moment. Lincecum strode out to the mound and immediately started digging that hole back into the mound with very strong, purposeful kicks— and the crowd erupted with a roaring “F You” cheer. Great moment.

My second-favorite moment of the season after the no-hitter.
Did anyone else notice how FAST Timmy was working on the mound tonight? I think he was inspired by Mark Buehrle. The Pirates had no chance to throw him off his rhythm, which is probably why they tried the desperate bullshit mound-fixing stuff. Still didn’t work.

I was soooo gonna be there. But but but but, I suck, and life got me. I rolled through Zeke’s at exactly 6:43, and totally missed seeing all you people. I was really keying on tonight as the make or break moment for my further participation in this community. And because of some sort of Jesus convention @ the SJ Arena there was no parking when I drove up to the train station. Blah^3 I missed the train, and came up short.
I hope that the next meet up is something I don’t drop the ball on. Glad to see that you all had fun. And aside from the “woe is me” tone to this, tonight’s game was EPIC. Though I was hoping that the black Abe Lincoln could work just a few more unnecessary dives into his performance. And I am officially worried that Randy’s classy arm has been replaced by a wet noodle.

What a great evening
Seriously, if you had told me a Monday night game against the Pirates would have drawn 40,000 fans AND Barry Bonds, I would have said you’re crazy. Clearly, Goofus’ good looks have far more drawing power than I would have guessed.
Muchos gracias to Goofus for the greatest seat I have ever had at a baseball game. Being 10 feet away from Tim Lincecum everytime he walked back into the dugout between innings was a real thrill. Plus I had a lot of fun cracking jokes next to Grant and the Mayor for nine innings and learning about Grant’s former mancrush on Steve Pearce. The More You Know™. And of course it was great to have drinks and chat with the McCoven, old and new, at Zeke’s beforehand.
I have a TON of pictures that I will download off my camera and load to the site on Tuesday morning. I’ll probably just create a new fanpost so I can fit as many of them in as possible (they might break a regular comment).
I actually filmed Eugenio Velez making one great and one spectacular catch in left field, but shortly thereafter some guys from Nike came along and confiscated my camera. None of us are witnesses. Maybe it’ll show up on TMZ in a few days.

orga-what now?
I think last year it was planned for a weekend, evening, away game.
So that uh pretty much rules out July.
There really aren’t that many dates left that would work!
@Cololrado August 21st @ 6pm or the 22nd @5pm that’s Fri/Sat
@Milvaulkie Sept 4th @ 5pm Fri
@ the evils Sept 18th TBD Friday
@San Diego Oct 2nd or 3rd both games @ 7 Fri/Sat
I like the dodger/Padre dates myself. You never know how the Giants will play in Cololrado.

I believe that about two years ago the Mayor and I agreed to play cribbage if there was ever a social gathering.
So if it happens, and we’re both available, I’ll bring my board. It’s shaped like a toilet bowl.
Or, I guess, I could bring my non-novelty board. Either way, the Mayor’s gonna lose a game of cribbage.

You guys keep talking about games I have never played before. Though, I have played Hearts (only because it’s a game that is installed on most PC’s). I don’t really know if Spades is like Hearts, though.
My family’s game was Pinochle. Now that’s a game I’m familiar with.

My parents played it quite a bit… my dad still does the bridge puzzle in the paper even though he hasn’t played in a couple of decades.
My impression of bridge is the grownups come over and drink a lot while I stay downstairs in the TV room eating the snacks I pilfered from the tables.
