Not really that surprising news. He only really made sense to us if he were available on the cheap (well relatively speaking) and he’s clearly not as Toronto is asking for a huge amount. He just isn’t worth the price we’d have to pay given the situation we’re currently in.

Institutionalized
There is a (FUCKING MORONIC) school of thought that acquiring Halladay, and teaming him with Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain, could be enough to overcome the Giants’ offensive woes and transform them into a daunting playoff opponent.

I’m sorry…“enough to overcome the Giants’ offensive woes”?

HOW MANY ACES = ONE RUN? Jesus fucking Christ.

All I wanted was a competitive offense.
Just one competitive offense.
And he wouldn’t give it to me.

well, the thought was that the Halladay deal would have brought Alex Rios with it, and he might have helped them score a few runs. Halladay on his own makes no sense, and the name “Buster Posey” is a deal breaker in ANY trade. Sabean’s full of crap though. He says he never talked about Halladay, so how does he know it would cost them Buster Posey? I also can’t tell you how disgusted I am to hear him knock all the young players and say that this trip might have been different if he had Rowand and Renteria. Is he nuts?

I think he means that, with a rotation like that, we don’t NEED runs.

Merkin Valdez? Manuel Mateo? A rose by any other name...

tell that to Matt Cain after what he went through the last two years.

Technically, at the very least a team needs 1 run to win a game. Sadly, even a single run is a challenge for this lineup

I can’t believe that any team would trade for Halladay this year, given that he has the contractural right t force a trade in the offseason and he has a partial no trade clause, so he would have his new team over a barrell. He will cost much, much less and the forced-trade option will be off the table if a team will just wait until the end of this season. Is 2.5 months of Halladay really worth all of the extra top-tier prospects that you would hav e to give up to get him now?

I really don’t think Sadowski should get another start…. Lets try Pucetas now. Maybe we can at least get a few wins from him before he is scouted (ala Sadowski)

The only way Halladay made sense was if he agreed to not opt for FA following this season and if the Giants could take an additional contract back from Toronto to lessen the prospect cost.

If after all that the cost was still Posey +, Ricciardi can crawl up his own buttpee dispensor.
